Bah.
Stb, channels stuttering and freezing and eventual stop.
Samsung OL4 area.
Rang NTL, told them intermittent problem. Some days fine, some days awful. Signals tested. No faults. They tell me unless it freezes at least once an hour consistently then no engineer can be allotted. I say not happy, really. Anything else we can do?
Asks how often it freezes again, I say at least once every hour, consistently.
Not amused - I thought he was gonna play the game for me, but no.
I tell them of an attenuator in place, but chap doesn't know what it is.
So I ask what can I do. Chap tells me to ring back and tell someone I'm getting an freeze once every hour, consistently.
I say, I just told you that though.
Silence..
Guess I'll call back tomorrow.

You could tell them that a bloke in Bury has had similar if not quite as severe STB problems (and, hey, why do the channels keep moving about?). You could add that said bloke in Bury is watching his 2mb connection offer reasonable to diabolical browsing speeds at whim and has had complaints about emails not arriving. Apart from that though he thinks NTL's got things sussed at the moment

Is it it me or do these problems always seem to arise immediately after a network upgrade?

I did tell him the problems have arised since the installation of the new Samsung box, but that carried no water either.
Fault line tells me there is probs in surrounding areas, but this has been for a few weeks now, so I don't suppose that's connected.
Was gonna tell them I was a bit miffed that I'd recently upgraded to 2MB at the higher price from 1MB then found out the 1 megger's had been upgraded free, but decided against it.
I love NTL in the most part, been with em since old C&W, guessing getting on for 10 years? They been great thus far.
Just a bit miffed to have to keep re-booting right now.

Re: What do I gotta do to make you love me?

Well, they did today Andy
Rang this morning with reports of rebooting every hour.
Tech just left now after fitting new attenuator, said signal levels were way out.
Also said things are likely to get worse (OL4 here) as the new *something or other* has been sent to the STB's a month early - mentioned STB's auto changing to channel 7, channel sequence messing up (unless changed by user already, then they seem to be ok) and intermittent loss of remote control functionality. Apparently Oct 14th will see the new blue EPG and working volume in this area - test boxes showed to be working fine with it. Also had a chat about 10MB and he said he was gutted to have missed being a trialist by one day, but reports were good so far from those trialling.
