You're right let's look back at sky's history of with holding channels. Virgin carry
Sky1 sky living, skysports 1234, skynews , sky sports news, skyf1, sky movies . You're right they keep one of their channels for themselves nasty sky.
Now let's talk about virginmedia with holding access to its cable network....
Or virgins history of unfair price rises.
Or the itv HD Channels not on virgin, or the missing Sony channel .

He meant HD channels. Virgin managed to get access to SKY HD content due to a combination of Ofcom rulings and the sale of VMTV to SKY. Since then SKY have launched SKY News HD, SKY Sports News HD, SKY Atlantic HD and SKY F1 HD. None of these new HD channels, if you read posts and quotes from various forums, are being made available to either Virgin or Smallworld Cable. Of course that's SKY's choice.
So I've got to agree with Dave42.

We could, but then we'd be going horribly off topic

Re: F1 HD channel
Well it just ashame virginmedia with hold access to its cable network and ondemand delivery system. It's very uncompetitive
An as for HD take away sky's HDfrom virgins tv it has very little left. In virgins perfect world Sky will spend the money and take all the risks whilst virgin trot in an get the content for next to nothing.
We keep hearing how TiVo is light years ahead of skys box an how VM broadband is so much better than sky's and how VM give free HD and free ESPN, so why cry over a few HD CHANNELS?

Have SKY ever tried to get access to Virgins broadband network, and if so what did they offer to pay? Remember SKY customers can use Virgin broadband to access their SKY Anytime+.

Virgin offer 37 HD channels, 17 of which are SKY. 20 non-SKY channels is still a fair number. I agree SKY do take risks but I'm sure SKY have gave nothing away to anyone for "next to nothing." I 'm sure Virgin wouldn't expect to get things for nothing either based on their previous experiences. As posted earlier it took a combination of Ofcom and the sale of VMTV to SKY to get SKY HD content onto Virgin in the first place.

Because people get greedy. It's human nature. People always want what their neighbours have. It's why this forum gets so many visits from SKY customers

Do you actually work for Sky or an affiliated company?
At least the VM staff who post on here admit it?

Re: F1 HD channel
Not that I will be pointing out these locations (15 of them off the top of my head) , but if you know where to look on-line, you can find full screen HD streams of most channels from any country, including Sky's formula one channel (in real time, not pre recorded). You do not even have to sign up to most of them.. just goto the site and click full screen. I do not condone this direction to view formula one, but if a person was not able to see it the normal way (due to not being a sky customer or not paying VM an arm and a leg)... there are alternatives.
Flame On !
