Not to my knowledge , in fact the only sport I can think of is the French Open tennis Eurosport 3D and Wimbledon on BBC HD granted the Olympics will air this year.

Under How do I get it , seems very confusing also as it suggests you can get 3D On Demand on every tier when in reality every tier other than XL only currently have PPV movies OD.

The tennis does look impressive. I have been told however that football looks almost like a video game ; never seen it myself so can't comment.

Does anybody know if the Steps concert will be available via Sky Anytime in
3D? It's advertised as being in 3D on Sky Living, however, I presume only Sky subscribers will be able to watch the 3D version? (It's the girlfriend that wants to know, honest..

)

and your right the tennis does look good and so do the add breaks,made me even more tempted to join sky.

It's on for 2 weeks then there will be nothing at all until the Olympics start on Friday July 27th.

same here,don't like tennis but the 3D is awesome,keep on going to nod the ball back!

Whilst in no way begrudging people who want to the opportunity to watch content in 3D, won't you soon get bored of watching something you don't enjoy - in this case tennis - solely because it's in 3D?

Or, is it actually the case that 3D is giving people a way to enjoy something they don't like in other formats?

Is it a gimmick, or is it a really important way of opening up certain things to a new audience. Before I read Jodash's post I'd have said the latter. If you're watching a sport you don't enjoy because of the format it's displayed in then I'm no longer sure.

Yes, good 3D coverage of the tennis. One thing that did look odd to me was that in long shots the players on the baseline looked a bit compressed like matchstick figures. Is this to do with the 3D technology or do I need a trip to Specsavers!

Think the gimmick aspect is when you first get 3D then you may be tempted to watch anything just because its 3D but that soon wears of,unless you bought a 3D tv when you didnt need a new one then that particular part of the tvs ability may have only added Â£100 to what you would have spent any way so to me its a use it when i think it will add to my enjoyment,which isnt that often on virgin L package,after saying that certain films i would watch in 3D conversion its not 3D but it adds a bit of depth

Sorry to bump an old thread, I can't seem to find any of the free 3D content such as the documentaries etc.

All that seems available is a small choice of 3D on demand movies.

The trouble with 3D Paul it is still very much a small niche product and as such there is not a lot of content available currently and in my own personal humble opinion l cannot see this changing.

One of the reasons I moved to SKY was for SKY 3D. Virgin at the time did have a reasonable selection of 3D content however they never really added to the content. Once you watched it all you'd had your lot.

I do agree with Den that 3D in the home is somewhat of a niche product. 3D TV only went on sale in the UK on the 22nd April 2010. The price of the first TV released was £1,799, a pair of the 3D glasses cost £150, and a 3D Blu-ray DVD player was around £350.

As prices continue to drop, uptake increases. Last July market research firm GfK confirmed 1.3 million 3D TV sets had been sold in the UK. That's almost 87,000 sets per month since launch. Current estimates suggest 3D TV sales in the UK have passed 2 million however not everyone is specifically buying their set because of the 3D option. What this means is in British households around 6 million people have access to a 3D TV set. Latest figures from GfK suggest 39% of all sets sold accross Europe in the past 12 months include 3D.

I have a 3D TV and enjoy SKY 3D. I don't watch the channel everyday but it does provide a different viewing experience. On Christmas Day I had my parents and brothers down for dinner. Afterwards we sat down together and watched a 3D programme on BBC about dinosaurs. My brother often pops over to watch Premiership football in 3D and the Masters Gold currently in 3D is amazing. In the past month I've enjoyed Men In Black 3D and The Avengers 3D. I've also noticed that kids like the 3D gimmick.

Whilst 3D is not for everyone, there is a demand for it. There should be more 3D options available from Virgin, BT, Talk Talk, Freeview and even the BBC.

There is more 3D content available than ever. The problem in the UK is that there is only once broadcaster really dedicated to creating new 3D content and that is SKY.

Most months SKY broadcast between 4 to 6 Premiership games in 3D. They also cover other events one or twice per month such as darts, boxing, golf or rugby. We also know that F1 3D should be with us real soon too. SKY also produce other programmes in 3D like Got to Dance, concerts and other one off programmes. SKY must produce around 20 to 30 hours worth of new content each month. It doesn't sound like much but the 3D channel only broadcasts for about 12 hours per day plus SKY imports lots of 3D content from America too like the series How it's made and National Geographic documentaries.
