There is a valid argument though, that VM should have kept the V+ as an option until the V+ missing features (full red button and Reminders) were available on tivo. Those missing features don't bother me, but they do others.

what about all the legacy non PVR SD boxes out in cable land, Pace and Samsung to name just two, they will not support the Tivo software!

Sorry legacy was the wrong word, but these standard def none PVR boxes will not support TiVo software including the Samsung 2110?

If you've not used a Tivo you don't know what your missing, when comparing V+ or sky+ to a Tivo, it's like going from a 90's nokia to a smart phone.

That's true, but the VHD box does, so old, non PVR boxes, can be swapped for a VHD box.
VM have said they will move completely to tivo software, so the long term plan is presumably to make tivo standard for PVR and VHD standard for non PVR boxes

I know now that you can only get a VHD or TiVo box as a new customer or adding another box! Their must be a huge number of these old STB out there? I would hate to think how long it would take to switch over to TiVo capable boxes!
The only time I have swapped my STB's out is service upgrade, Pace to V+, then V+ to TiVo, I feel their has got to be sometime way into the future compulsory swap outs of old kit

Smart with out signal perhaps you are right Just be careful if swapping to TiVo lots of posting say its great & lots wishing they hadn`t . Me I happy that I kept my V+ as well. Need both to get the "FULL" TV service .
Wonder if I can put the two boxes on one "inlet" & swap as required ?

2 way splitter perhaps and connect each to a different HDMI input on the TV?
