Countrywide catchup TV broken 20 Apr 2012?

Hi All,

We've (well better half) just got off the phone to VM to let them know our catchup service is still broken after 2 months.

We have the flashing heartbeat on our V+ box.

We were told that catchup tv is broken countrywide, is this the case? I've been to this link https://my.virginmedia.com/faults/service-status and it says everything is tickity boo in our neck of the woods.

Are we right to be smelling a rat?

Thanks
- Jim

On Demand`s not working here in Swansea for the last three days.

I`ve complained in another thread and on the VM Forum.

Thanks Dave, to add insult to injury my better half received an automated phone message to say it's all fixed now - it isn't!

Is it me? Or has VM's support taken a bit of a slide lately?

A flashing heartbeat light is almost certainly a fault unique to you. Call them again.

Thanks spiderplant, we will do. We are getting a bit tired of being fobbed off now. We'll call them again tomorrow. Cheers

At my previous address i had tech out for loss of catch up (usually coupled with a loss of internet) 11 times in about 18 months + a further 5 or 6 visits that i cancelled because it seemed to fix itself, basically the green box needed sorting out because there was too many splitters in there and they was too lazy to sort it out properly.

Re: Countrywide catchup TV broken 20 Apr 2012?

If you've got a flashing online light, it normally means that your box doesn't have a return path so the signal is coming into your V+ but not returning to VM (in a sort of loop). This will affect you On Demand and you'll not be able to use it whilst the light is flashing.

This is usually caused by your signal levels being out or some faulty wiring somewhere in your set up. You definitely need an engineer visit to investigate and rectify.

Thanks Superblade, it's the heart shaped light that is flashing. Cheers - Jim

..Or your signal being split too many times. They managed to fix it where i used to live, basically one of the techs who really knew what he was talking about booked a day out with another engineer and they pulled the box to pieces and put every body on too a connection of their own, he even said he had put my connection right at the back so it was unlikly to be split in the future, unfortunatley getting to this level of service was a very painful and lengthy experience.

We we'll see what happens tomorrow as we have a tech visit booked between 4 and 7. I'll keep you posted. Lots of great insights and experience in the forum. I guess the constant resplitting means the problem just keeps getting worse.
