VM Customer call - free TiVo offer..

A VM overseas centre just called to say they were upgrading my broadband to double speed and upgrading my TV package from M+ to L (I think - might have been XL) and I could have a TiVo installed and activated for free. But then this would then cost me £12 something extra a month. I had to decline as I want to downgrade things if anything. I tried to downgrade at the end of a discount promotion for my BB this week but they said I could just stay at 30MB for what I'm paying.

Anyway - I think I recall one of the VM bods saying something about getting the TiVo in every house eventually. A free activation and free installation is a good entice.
Anyone know what the monthly charges are? I'm trying to work out what the £12 odd a month charge is.

The former has been announced already. The latter (bit in bold) sounds suspiciously wrong. VM wouldn't just upgrade you to the next (or highest!) TV package, permanently for nothing.

The monthly charge for Tivo is £5.

Well done Sherlock, he clearly says VM told him his bill would increase by £12.duh

Also VM always chuck deals out this time of year so the first quarter figures look better.

Re: VM Customer call - free TiVo offer..

Price difference from M+ to L is about £7 so combine that with £5 tivo you have your £12 a month increase, so not really a special offer at all

Re: VM Customer call - free TiVo offer..

Thanks Kymmy. Not an offer but the installation and activation free - is that something people are getting right now I wonder?

Carl, I always thought you were on my ignorelist so thanks for the heads up. That needs sorting.

Well they have never called me out of the blue to offer me anything. But then I'm on XL phone and TV already so they couldn't really offer me much.

Ok will try, lol because my sa v+ is up the creek got so fed up of the whining I unplugged the hard drive power cable and hadn't bothered to phone up the fault because I didn't want a replacement v+ seeming its now obsolete and haven't got spare cash at the moment to pay the £49.99 installation fee.

Might as well get the 500gb because got a 1tb in living room anyway.

How much extra per month will it cost me?

Currently got 1x TiVo, 1vhd, 2x v+ (1 got moved free) and 100mb broadband. Tv Xl etc.

Re: VM Customer call - free TiVo offer..

" TiVo "FREE" this weeklend" was the sign outside the Virgin shop on Saturday. Somehow I think that somewhere on it was install & setup. How ever as I was walking passed ( will on a wave to be honest, just coming out of the Wales/ France game ) I did not notice that. Of cause my Tivo install was free & cut my bill as well.

Re: VM Customer call - free TiVo offer..

Ive got an engineer coming tomorrow afternoon to replace my V+ box with a broken hard drive.

Hope they pre-call so I can request TiVo and avoid the installation fee and that I get a helpfull engineer willing to do the upgrade.. I already have a TiVo box so no need to be shown how to use it.

is it only available on the 500Gb? or can I also request a 1Tb? then pay the activation fee on my next bill?

Thanks.

As its your second TiVo you might get charged full price, best to double check with the tech
