TiVo : Optical Out Cable

Hi, i am going to get an optical out cable for the TIVO box so i can plug it in to my amp for the 5.1 sound, having not had to use one before as my other devices all do it over HDMI i am just wanting to know if the cable linked before will be OK and to double check i have the right one

That is the right one, but the TiVo will do 5.1 over HDMI

does it pass the 5.1 decoded or does it bitstream so the amp does the decoding?

really, the guy who installed it said i would need an optical cable.

If you do need one then try poundland, their optical cables work perfectly well and only cost a quid

It's under audio settings then set to Dolby Digital

thanks, i cannot decide which sounds best though, the Dolby Digital or the DD to PCM option.

if i select the DD to PCM option i get more sound options on my AMP so i am guessing thats the better option ?
