Virgin Media Inc., the U.K’s second- largest pay-television company, is in talks with video-streaming providers to add shows and movies to its TiVo recording service, Chief Executive Officer Neil Berkett said.
While it’s still “early days,” and no announcements are imminent, Berkett said he wants the platform to give customers access to content from services such as Amazon.com Inc.’s Lovefilm and Netflix Inc.

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
Now that is the sort of apps needed , especially if a deal could be struck for cheaper access.

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
I for one hope this one's true. Lovefilm and Netflix are exactly the type of content TiVo needs. Fingers crossed.

This would be brilliant and also if they gave the customers the choice of these or SKY movies ( VIP packs where Sky movies are included)

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
My thoughts only - I've not seen anything
Maybe there would be 2 tiers -
have own Loveflix account and access via TiVo app or other valid method, pay standard fee as individual
subscribe to services via VM for discount rate, pay VM who pass on to supplier, more limited in that only accessible via VM

I agree with you Devil , this has been my main criticism of TIVO for sometime , video content apps are what's needed so this is a real positive if it pans out.

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
The question is now will we get them before the years end or will it be bracketed and put in the coming soon department.

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
As an existing user of Netflix, I received an email inviting me to participate in a survey about the pay-tv premium movie industry and it was done by the Competition Commision and they were asking a lot of questions about Netflix and Sky Movies.
I think the Competition Commision would recommend the Netflix and Lovefilm features on Tivo as it offers more competition with Sky Movies and therefore think that it will arrive probably around summer.
Netflix has become increasingly popular in the UK mostly because of the free trial, but for people to pay £6 per month, I think more people would pay this if it was available on services such as Tivo, I would anyway.

Re: Virgin in talks with Netflix and love film
From what I can glean from their respective websites it looks to me that Lovefilm have a more interesting range of material than Netflix. If and when this happens I hope we get the choice.

Add me to that as well but the question is how long will we have to wait.

13 months later and the eBay app is still in Beta and the Facebook app is still MIA, but meanwhile we get 'exciting' promotional apps for True Blood and Harry Potter.
Suffice to say that I'm not getting too excited by today's news.
