Re: Premier Sports
Eh I said 3 of the above not all 4. Obviously, ESPN have better rights but the other 3, Eurosport, Motors and Extreme that are on XL don't. Now moving onto Chad...firstly, they pick up rights for minor stuff as you can't keep showing repeats and of they pay for themsleves them so be it. You must be living on cloud cuckoo land to think you can run a channel with 6000 subs and that is itself and insult to NHL, Blue sq, Rugby League and NASCAR. I know the channel is self funded by one person and is now making money so if you think you can buy of these rights, film 70 events per year at 15,000-20,000 per event and have and epg and sat space plus transmission, staff, call centre etc then good luck to you! Anyway, they ain't going away in a hurry ESP and as I see it are well set up for 1. A take over 2. Further investment. EPL rights might dictate but worse case for this channel they will continue to make a small upside unlike other channels bar SKY Sports.

I must be living on cloud cuckoo as I do believe this channel is running on less than 6000 subs. Premier Sports are just buying access to the live international feeds to events which is cheap compared to broadcasting the event live themselves.
You've posted previously that you know certain facts about the channel but what proof do you have? For example "I know the channel is self funded by one person and is now making money". Now I could be wrong, and you could be right but I'm a very arrogant person who won't change his mind until proven wrong so please shut me up and post proof of how successful Premier Sports are and why myself and Virgin should take them seriously.
By the way this isn't personal, I think the channel stinks but would always welcome an alternative view if backed up with evidence to make me think twice.

You can add a zero to your 6000 for starters! You don't turn over enough to pay for all their rights and production on 6000 and break even unless my calculator is sponsored by a muppet.

Re: Premier Sports
Well you do if you're being funded by a wealthy individual. I'm minded to agree with Chad's analysis in that Premier Sports subscriber base is low-after all, if they can attract the numbers then they're biting their nose off to spite their face if they walk away from an offer which opens the possibility of subscription
up to another 4 million people. I actually think they're are probably heavily in debt to a benefactor, and that they needed a deal with Virgin to come close to a position where they are self financing let alone in profit. We'll see, but I reckon they're in trouble and their actions around the recent negotiations only point to that being the case.

Re: Premier Sports
If premier sports was on virgin for say 7 or 8 pounds I would downgrade my tv xl to m+ to pay for it, I wonder if virgin have this in mind when when they try to do a deal for it?
On another note I would swap premier sports for ESPN any day of the week, my guess would be that most other rugby league fans would do the same.

Even if a deal could be agreed to offer the channel on a sliding pay scale. For instance:
M+ Premier Sports costs £7.99 per month
L Premier Sports costs £5.99 per month
XL Premier Sports costs £4.99 per month
VIP Packages Premier Sports is included free of charge

Premier Sport had or have the chance to launch on VM as a premium stand alone as on Sky , VM though are not prepared to do a inclusive with XL deal as with ESPN its sad premier sport did not want to launch on VM as a premuim stand alone one can only guess why,low subcriber base is my view on sky, they want the security of a fixed incluive deal.
I doubt VM have the £7 sub in mnd when negotiating as Premier Sport have been offered a launch on VM to all intents and purposes so let them get on with it.

Re: Premier Sports
They've got 2544 followers on Twitter and 8887 "likes" on Facebook
Actually, if you look at it that is quite good. ESPN UK have 63,000 and over 1.2 million subsribers.
If all 'likes' on ESPN were from subscribers which I am sure is not the case then that would represent 5% of ESPN's base being on their Facebook page.
It would also mean that Premier's 9000 likes on their page actually equates to 180,000 subscribers. I don't believe they have that number of subs but I do believe they are better and more interactive and up front than ESPN are at social media!
Anyway, it again makes a mockery of Chad's claim that Premier only have 6000 subs!

What complete rubbish, some pretty big and bad assumptions there. Whats the point in speculating as you said "you know for a fact"
I follow premier sports on Twitter only because i want to pick up news about any PS and VM deal and i dont have access to the channel. I dont follow ESPN on twitter but have access to the channel.

Re: Premier Sports
I like ESPN UK on Facebook but don't have the channel. You can take the variables into account but I am just saying 9000 likes it not bad and certainly does not = 6000 subs. Boxnation have 2500 likes on Facebook. Does that therefore mean they have 1700 subs. Maybe?
