I don't understand why they refused to launch as a subscription channel on Virgin, just like they have on SKY? It's stupidity. Virgin customers who want the channel should e-mail Premier Sports telling them they are happy to pay the £7.99 per month if they launch. Whilst it would be great to have the channel in the XL package, I agree that XL is already heavy with sports channels.

I am only guessing but i think the real reason they want to be part of the XLTV pack on VM is for a guaranteed income stream over a set number of years.
I am not a betting man but i bet their subscription figures on sky tell them not many would pay the £7.99 a month for premier sport as a premium channel on VM.
No doubt there are VM customers who would pay but they would be a vocal minority in my view.

Re: Premier Sports
Sky Sports and BoxNation are not in the XL TV Pack, so why should Premier Sport expect VM to put them on the XL TV pack?

So is is likely that Virgin will end up giving in, or will Premier Sport see that big picture and accept VM's current deal?

So as well as being intelligent you are also a pessimist amongst other things.

Totally agree with you there.
When advertisers come knocking on PS door and ask how many potential customers will see our advert, of course it would be great to say to them X million as we are on XLTV on VM. A few thousand on Sky only just doesn't cut it does it.

I'll be surprised if VM give in to a minority channel. It will take a lot of people calling retentions and saying they are moving to Sky because they want PS for them to even think about giving in. Although I appreciate there may be some customers who want PS, I don't think it will be enough for VM to take note.

Re: Premier Sports
A fellow member posted that there are too many sports channels already on XL. True, but Eurosport, apart from its excellent cycling coverage is very poor, along with Extreme, Liverpool FCTV, At the Races which I hardly watch because they don't interest me.
I only watch ESPN UK but hardly watch the other two especially ESPN America.
I agree completely what 'Chad' says earlier.
In my view get rid of the poorer sports channels then add Premier on XL otherwise I'm happy to pay £7.99 per month so I can get to watch some Blue Sq Prem football & some NASCAR etc. Surely £7.99 per month is a fair price?

Get rid of Eurosport2/News, Extreme, At the races, & Liverpool FCTV.
Also a few of some music channels that hardly appeal to the 'mature' masses & low budget entertainment channels
This would enable more HD channels as well as adding Premier Sports.
Just a suggestion in my view.

No chance of Eurosport 2/News and At the Races, the music channels and entertainment channels, but Liverpool might be a option?
There is enough space for more channels on Virgin TV!
My suggestion would be most shopping and travel channels bar QVC and other fairly high quality channels

I agree with your suggestion, the shopping channels are a complete waste of time & space. The internet is the best place for them. Take it you don't like Extreme Sports either?

I do not watch it myself, but it is good enough to stay on Virgin TV!
