An exception very much caused by the very people note wanting to exploit it.

Re: Premier Sports
It is worth stating that VM have decided to increase the charge for the XL package by £2 per month so I don't see why part of that increase can't be used to offer Premier Sports in the XL package.

Or be used to give us Sky Atlantic as part of the XL package.

We don't even know what, if any of the £2 increase will be reinvested in channels.
If money is being reinvested I suppose once Virgin deliver all the missing HD channels that people want, and add even more content to their On Demand library, then yes they should go back to Premier Sports to see if a deal can be done. I am however guessing by the time Virgin do go back to them, Premier Sports will be defunct.
There is a series of missing channels that people have been asking for now for years. These channels must take priority over Premier Sports.

Re: Premier Sports
People seem to be holding Premier Sports accountable for not being on Virgin. Here's a few posts on their Facebook page that have yet to be answered:
"Premier, just wondering if the accusation about premier turning down virgin are true, it would be good to give an answer either way to silence all the threads being full of the same couple of fellas moaning on about the same point"
"VM are happy to carry Premier as a premium channel (like on Sky), but PS want to be bundled with XL package"
"Pity premier sports tried to blackmail virgin"

PS have replied with this : "There is a reply on our website under channel news. Left hand side. "
So it looks like it is true, they want to be in the XL pack and don't want to be a premium service like on Sky.

Re: Premier Sports
Hopefully it will turn up in the XL package, especially following the announcement of this £2 per month price hike for the XL package although if PS is to appear in the XL package then one would assume that it is unlukely to appear until after the price rise takes place.

l cannot see it going on to the XL package in a month of sundays and the most you can hope for with Premier Sports is that you and others will have a chance to subscribe to it on a PPV monthly subscription basis.

Re: Premier Sports
You never know and it's never wise to try to make predictions concerning what might happen next. After all, who would have predicted that Setanta Sports, and subsequently ESPN, would have been part of the XL package.

Re: Premier Sports
Setanta was part of xl because it allowed Virgin Media to compete with Sky Sports as it held some of the Premiership rights. ESPN for the same reason. Premier Sports really doesn't offer anything that Virgin could use as a selling point to more than a handful of potential customers. I speak as somebody who would like the channel-it simply won't happen unless Premier land some rights worth having, and even then it's unlikely.

Re: Premier Sports
Sure but the point I was making is that I don't think anyone would have predicted that Setanta Sports woulc have become available in the XL package until it actually happened.

Re: Premier Sports
No, but there was at least a reason for it to do so. There is no reason for Premier Sports to become part of the xl pack, so I think the prediction that it won't is sound.

I don't understand why they refused to launch as a subscription channel on Virgin, just like they have on SKY? It's stupidity. Virgin customers who want the channel should e-mail Premier Sports telling them they are happy to pay the £7.99 per month if they launch. Whilst it would be great to have the channel in the XL package, I agree that XL is already heavy with sports channels.
