VHD software upgrade and remote

This may be a very trivial question at the moment because nothing about the VHD boxes upgrade to the TiVo software/firmware has been confirmed. Assuming it’s going ahead and we get the upgrade will they be issuing TiVo remotes to all customers with a VHD box? As I cant see the current one being able to use the features of the TiVo to the full potential that it could have.

Re: VHD software upgrade and remote

You are indeed correct there has been nothing confirmed. But as you say, if it were to happen, then it would need the TiVo remote to be supplied as part of it

This question is been going around for some time, is there a technical reason why VHD boxes cannot have a non PVR version of Tivo, or is it a cunning plan to get more people onto TiVo before this upgrade?

From what I have read I would rather stay with the Liberate software its epg would appear to be more accurate and I don't have to pay for it.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's any more or less accurate than the TiVo one. I've seen just as many EPG errors on both boxes.

I only have the vhd so it is not as crucial as it is for people who have TiVo to have an accurate epg. As it stands £3 for the epg on TiVo seems excessive as it is not dynamic, would appear to be quiet in flexible as the Stella incident showed on Friday night. The Epg on Sky and VM Liberate boxes was changed ,but the Tivo epg never was according to posts on here.

I must be lucky I don't seem to have had any problem with the TiVo epg and I had it installed over a month and half ago.

Reminders are one reason.
