VOD : Ofcom: content providers responsible for Virgin Media VOD

I'm not sure whether there will be any ramifications following this ruling by ofcom so thought I would post the link in case it will have some bearing on the VOD content we can get.

Just means that if viewers complain about the content of a VOD programme, then the programme provider is responsible for the content and not Virgin.

I suspect what's happened here is that someone has complained about a programme (or more than one) and Viacom have just said "It's not our responsibility, it's Virgin's".

Although saying that is, IMO, like the owner of the truck which just hit you blaming the local council.

Viacom seem to have a lot to say about Virgin Media's TV service since they keep witholding and removing channels.

Where are they Viacom? Why a big company with big ideas find it complicated to broadcast a handful of TV channels on particular TV platforms and negotiate with Virgin Media to get them on.

But back to the subject, I think they are worried just incase there is ever some controversy over there own content, but to be honest why should Virgin Media but responsible for there content? It's like saying Virgin Media should be the ones in charge of complaints over content on the live TV channels which Viacom broadcasts, its just silly!

Most people still think of VM as a VOD platform using its STB's to service their customers, but they also operate the net based media player now. This is a clarification of VM's responsibility as an ISP in this respect.
