Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

Yes, I think it was. I've just checked and can't find it now. Both baby channels are there, but I think one of them either came off the VM platform or closed altogether.

There are only two pogrammes on Current TV VOD! The programme where Jeff Leach has sex for money and the other about bootlegged booze.

Military History is on there, is this a different channel to the one labelled "Military"?

There is a channel called Military Channel (owned by Discovery Communications) in North America

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

Thought i would post this as an amusing aside i am currently recording vice squad on current TV and in an episode i was watching sunday night,a VM van with the "Near Miss" VM logo on it was trapped asking for buisiness from a decoy police woman in East London ! one of the film crew was surprised he pulled over in a van emblazoned with a company logo on it,the arresting officer was not though he said we see it all here, the chap was arrested and later fined and the commentator wondered what he told his boss.LOL.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that one.

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

This is not the first time that a VM engineer has been involved in a sexual indiscretion

On the DS forum I once read that a neighbour noted that a VM engineer was constantly calling round to a customers house.

When she asked the reason for this, he said that she was having trouble with her services and needed a "repull".

The DS member was, therefore, asking what a repull was. You can imagine the replies lol.

From what I remember, it turned out that he was having sex with her whilst her husband was out!

A friend of mine was seeing a VM engineer for a time, but she finished with him for talking about VM all the time. He was later dismissed after a new install customer reported him for offering her a modified box to receive free channels!

I didn't know that they worked on Sundays either, I was once round at a venue managers' flat and an engineer called on a Sunday lunchtime to do his VM installation! How long has this been available?

I thought that SAAB had a TV channel but I can't seem to find any reference to it now. Of course, SAAB have had some financial difficulties of late so it's possible that the TV channel was a luxury they could no longer afford but I still expected to find something about it on the internet. Anyone know any more about it?

Indeed. ... and some channels and a lot of programming should have far fewer viewers than they do.

Sadly, it looks like Current TV in the UK will indeed close at midnight on Sunday 11th March 2012.* I'm not sure how long their website will continue to exist after that date but it looks like what little On Demand content there was on VM has now been removed. Can someone verify that please?

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

I've just rung home to get someone to check the (V+) box. Yes, it does appear that Current TV VOD has already been removed! VM seem to have jumped the gun on this one, not that there was much there anyway, but still

The last time I checked was on 24 January 2012 and there was only two programmes present. (The programme where Jeff Leach has sex for money and the other about bootlegged booze.)

Previous channel closures have seen VOD being made available for a time after the withdrawal of the linear channel, or even permanently. I guess it depends on the contractual agreement, but I am surprised that a mutually agreeable amendment has not been reached between VM and Current TV to enable continuation of programmes on VOD.

I expect that the website will redirect to the US version shortly after the closure, as people are being invited to keep in touch this way.

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

Maybe they will be made available on the American site, or other broadcasters in the UK might buy the rights?

Some of their programming, like "What Did I Do Last Night" may appeal to other broadcasters??

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

Did you mean BBC4 or the programme example that I gave?

I rather like BBC4 at times, but think that What Did You Do Last Night would be more suited to BBC3.

Current TV is like BBC4, maybe the BBC could take on those rights to thoses programmes in the UK

On a less serious maybe Sky will buy the rights to those programes and launch Sky Docs

Maybe...

I think hell will freeze over before Sky allow any other viewpoint to be heard!

There will be a closing down announcement by Al Gore at 11.50pm on Sunday, before the channel finally closes for good. He will be sharing his thoughts on the UK channels successes and closure, so it may prove to be controversial as far as Sky are concerned.

I recommend people watch and/or record it...

Re: Current TV on VM TV that is the question

No, that only applies to Sky premium channels. It didn't even used to apply to them until Sky tied in the requirement to a new contract, so that this was aligned to the situation with their own customers. I don't know if Sky customers can watch recordings from a basic channel, once they no longer subscribe to it.
