Who did you email?

Travel channel or Virgin Media?

Travel Channel will just tell you to contact Virgin Media, Virgin Media will just tell you they have no plans as yet to launch it.......

They won't tell you if a channel is coming unless they are 100% sure, telling you a channel that might be coming, is getting peoples hopes up and can be seen as misleading, so that is probably why they don't give you a definate answer most of the time.

Many businesses don't like to share affairs and goings on with customers especially BT, you don't talk about your personal life on here, so why would businesses reveal everything about them.

I emailed ntl:, because they were the ones who dropped it. Their response was that, at the time, there was another travel channel which mainly sold cruises and that was the alternative.

Travel channel would be a nice addition now that Discovery Travel has died off.

You would have been talking about TV Travel Shop which was no where near Travel Channel, and Telewest(Flextech/Virgin Media Television) closed that too around 2004, it used to share Challenge TV/The family channel on Analogue a long time ago.

Re: Travel Channel;Sky 251 Will it be included on Virgin

I think you are more likely to see Sky Travel again than Travel Channel. I don't know Sky Travel channel did not return to Virgin Media after the Sky basic channels came on. You'd have thought Sky would have pushed for this channel to be on as it is more of a sales channel than anything else.

Travel Channel rapped over 'unfair' competitions

Quote:
The Travel Channel has been rebuked over repeated breaches of UK regulations in its viewer competitions, and warned that it faces a "significant sanction" if further instances occur.

A whistleblower contacted Ofcom to claim that the cable and satellite channel, licensed to broadcast in the UK and Ireland since 1993, was guilty of "unfair conduct" in its competitions dating back to the 1990s.

The unnamed complainant alleged that between 1997 and 2008, and occasionally after 2008, the Travel channel had selected winners for its premium rate phone-in competitions, rather than picking them at random.

It was claimed that Travel Channel International (TCI), operator of the channel, did this because it wanted to promote the channel to cable and satellite TV platform holders.

The complainant said that by ensuring winners lived in areas relevant to individual TV operators, the Travel Channel could show its value to local audiences, a point particularly key during times when it was in negotiations over new carriage deals.

I always enter the ITV ones via the web site and have often wondered if there was less of a chance of winning!
