Audio Settings

I have an issue with my audio settings but i suspect the setting i have selected has no way of being able to do both the following.

My V+ box is connected to my Home Cinema system by optical cable.
(My cinema system does not have any HDMI inputs as it is an older model.)

In the audio settings menu i have adjusted it so i get the sound output through the optical cable but this does not work when viewing SD channels as this only seems to work on the HD channels only.

This is anoying for the mrs as this means she has to turn on the cinema system to watch any channel and i must admit we only tend to turn on the cinema system when watching movies.

Is there any way of being able to watch SD channels through the normal TV spaekers with the audio output type i have selected on the V+ box.

Thanks.

BTW the full AC321 digital surround sound on the HD movie channels sounds great.
