Problem with STB

We have had power failures in Harrogate today. Now my Samsung set top box won't boot up. When I power it on the display is showing 8888, occasionally one of the numbers will scroll round from 0 to 9 and then go back to 8. Nothing coming up on the tv, but terrible picture interference.
I don't know if the box is goosed, or if it can't boot itself up because of a problem further down the line. My broadband and phone are back up.
Any help gratefully received.

VM often get bad comments on this forum, so I want to say well done for the service I have received for this fault.
Engineer booked for between 4pm and 7pm. Arrived at about 4.50pm, box replaced all is now ok.
Well done to VM and thank you.

Engineer said this is the 5th box of this type today with the same fault, all caused by the power failure.
