recording programmes from virgin media old box to dvd

I have an old virgin media box and a tv with freeview installed in the tv and want to record programmes from my STB with a DVD recorder. Would i have to only record what i am watching(inadequate) or is it better to get a virgin+ box?

Re: recording programmes from virgin media old box to dvd

If you have an aerial connected to the TV and the DVD recorder, you have the option to watch a Freeview channel whilst recording cable and vice versa. Depends if this is adequate for what you want to record.

Changing the V box for a TiVo, you can record up to 3 channels simultaniously, and you have the option of watching/recording in HD if your TV is capable of displaying it.
