Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
It's a real money-grabbing scam.. but I reckon by about race 10 they'll offer the channel on its own.
Alternatively a cheeky little workaround might be to get a vpn service and tunnel out the the USA and watch it online (kind of presuming they will stream it to the US to garner a bit more support for F1??)

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
I've just had notice of the cost increase from VM this morning. One of the 'how we compare with competitors' items is 'Sky charge £10.25 a month for the HD pack'. Strange they don't mention that the £10.25 includes the one channel I'd really like!

They aren't being very honest then.
XL TV with Tivo = £33.50 (soon to increase by a further £2 for new customers).
Sky Entertainment Extra + HD sub = £35.25.
There isn't anwhere near £10 between top tier non premium subscribers for the two.

There are some adverts that say that for shows that are on VM. I think Sky in the adverts doesn't mean Sky as in the platform.

I know we are getting the SD version, but Sky are advertising the HD version as exclusive to their platform.

That's because Sky Sports F1 HD is exclusive to the Sky platform and, much as it hurts, I'm going to have to get an additional Sky+ HD install at £30.50 p/month alongside my Virgin XL TiVo.
Eight pounds a month more than the Virgin Sky Sports package but it is a second standalone system with SSF1HD included.

I'm going to try life with just the BBC coverage for the first half of the season. If it gets too frustrating I'll be switching to skiy. I already have a spare BT line in my (home) office so it'll be relatively painless.

How does having a spare phoneline make a difference? Most households have a regular phone regardless.

I don't think the 'only on Sky' means much. Around here, e.g., around here even the advert for True Bloods says 'only on Sky'. They seem to be putting it on everything they advertise.

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
What was sky thinking when they did not give Sky Sports F1 HD to VM customers, I mean they have lost revenue and even if they did, they still have Sky 3D (so that they can broadcast F1 in 3D)?

Why do you keep asking the same questions (worded differently), over and over again.
Your question has been answered many times if you go through this thread.
It's quite simple to understand (even for someone in higher management like yourself ). Sky are keeping the HD version exclusive to them to try and attract customers. It's as simple as that. I should think that in a couple of years, once the rush is over, they will let VM have it.
