How long does it take to write an App, people on here have managed to get the TIVO app working with our boxes in far less time and its not even their full time job
Do we know if the VM app is going to be free, if its going to be chargeable than that would make sense with them blocking the other apps

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
The 'change the background to red' TiVo app is presumably free.
The 'one with live streams that I presume exists because that bloke posted a screenshot of it on here for 10 minutes' may be subscription based (like the current Virgin Media Player on mobiles) but it hopefully won't be.

It will be free. It's not that it's being written. It's the same app that is out in the USA afaik. There is a lot of changes to be made though to fit in with the VM TiVo that's been changed since the US release. It's a lot more complicated than posters her seem to think.

Adding DRM so we cant watch everything on the box will probably take some time for VM's crack coders. Typical VM, release something unfinished but some potential but then take 6 months to get it working acceptably then rush out a "security update" to stop people using functionality that they will eventually half-ass months later.
Sound familiar?

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
Hmm,
My setup is still up and running. I guess it is possible that a Virgin FW update has stopped the bonjour based auto-discovery that Snoops app uses.
Perhaps IP addresses have changed and people need to just exit and run the application again? I have set up my router so that the IP address of my Virgin box and my AppleTV (which I use as the fake Virgin box) never change, and I am using the old python scripts with the statically assigned IP address, not as elegant as the auto discovery application, but it seems to still be working and was the easiest solution for running on the AppleTV.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
Not everyone has had the TiVo update yet, so it will still be working for some people

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
There is a poster on the other forum that says he has the update (quotes firmware version 15.2.RC8-VMC-2-C00) and that the ipad app still works for him too - although peanut app doesn't.
CaptainChickenpa has a good point - perhaps it's just an IP thing. Hope so! It would make sense that they didn't block the port(s) which the official app will eventually use. And, it seems reasonable to expect that will be the same as is used for the US app.
Let's hope so!

Have you had the update? Most people will be getting it from 31 January.
Just realised I've made a mistake. Poster on the other forum says he's had the update, but has quoted the old firmware version (which is what I've shown above), so maybe he hasn't after all. Sorry to get everyone's hopes up!

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
I had just assumed that I had the update as the posts about it being broken came through about a week ago. I naively assumed that the update would only take a couple of days.
I will check my fw version tonight and let you know.
As you say, it doesn't make sense for them to break the app on purpose, but perhaps they are making some other changes that require additional/different ports.
I am optimistic that they are not deliberately blocking this until they release their own app.

No. The only way to stop updates is to turn the box off and leave it off.

They don't only happen at night. The updates initially rollout in an area at night to avoid disruption to customers but after that they are always there and I would expect TiVo would update the next time it can
