Tivo software on V box

Anybody know if there is a possibility that the Tivo software will be available for the standard Cisco V box ( Non recording)?

The V HD, yes. That's the plan.

Thanks for your response! I assume there will not be a charge for this as it will just be an over the cable upgrade to the software. Or will it?

Seems extensive seeing as TiVo revolves around the ability to record and the box cannot.

It will be the advanced search functions, 14 day EPG, YouTube, Facebook etc I guess.

nothing has been announced regarding if it will be chargeable and how much it would cost.

I was under the impression the £199 was for the box "activation fee" and its abilities to record and the £3 was for the tivo content

yea so that means everyone who bought VM latest and greatest V+ HD box in the past 2 ot 3 years are now getting screwed over and left to rot on the old system unless they drop the PVR features or fork out again for a cisco TiVo box.

this has annoyed me a little so i wont be jumping to TiVo in the near future unless i get it as a massively reduced price or free !!!

Re: Tivo software on V box

Why are they getting screwed and left to rot if the box still works in the same way as it was sold to them..??

because thew V+ HD system is end of life. no more new V+HD boxes and once the supply of refurb V+HD boxes runs out your option will be either upgrade to TiVo or loose the PVr and move to a standard V HD box.

people with a standard V box get a cheap upgrade path to the V HD with a TiVo interface. people with V+HD will have to pay quite a lot of maney to get into TiVo or stay on the old system which will probably never see any upgrades once TiVo is rolled out for VHD and the new TiVo box hence the left to rot !!!

Re: Tivo software on V box

Say who?

There's no reason why the current system won't be left for many a year to come especially witht he amount of boxes out there..

It's not as if the tivo system will be enabled and the old system turned off.

Stop looking for problems where currently none exist

hey im not looking for problems im genuinely concerned about it as i own a V+HD box, infact own both a V+HD box and a VHD box.

my concern is i payed a premium for VM`s premium V+HD box 2 years ago (£175) and once TiVo is released i no longer have the permium box i payed for but infact have an out of date, end of like technology. now as a customer i have the right to voice my concerns especially after paying as much as i did for a permium box that is no longer the case.

it just seems VM are not bothered about current V+HD customers. the VHD customers are getting TiVo there is a new permium box but existing customers V+ customers (the ones who payed a premium in the first place) are left out of this new revolution unless they downgrade or pay again. yes i understand that the old system could run for years but i didnt pay a premium in the first place to be left on an old system !!!
