Strange TV problem

This is not really a complaint or a request for help, more like a curiosity "Why the hell does this happen?"

I have an old Samsung TV, with 2 SCART inputs and one COAX input. I have the cable tv box plugged into SCART1, and it works great, except I need to press AV on the remote control when I turn the TV on, to change to the cable tv.

The puzzling thing is, when the commercials start on any channel on cable tv, the tv reverts to channel 1, giving me "snow". The TV retunes itself back to the AV input when the commercials end, or when I press the AV button again.

Can someone explain why it acts like this?

make sure you have the V-box set to "TV auto detects V-box" set to ON in the settings menu of the V-Box. Other than that it could be a loose scart connection on the tv or V-box, check all connections. To rule out your tv, try a DVD or VCR on the same scart socket.

Re: Strange TV problem

You just need to plug something you like watching into the Coax and then you get to watch that rather than adverts in every break!

Re: Strange TV problem

Hi Milambar, i to had the same problem as you have described it was with a samsung 50" plasma and the samsung Vbox, it bugged me that much that i had 3 different engineers call out and swap the box each time until the last knowledgable guy told me what was wrong.. it seems that for some strange reason the the samsung tv and box were not compatable!!! i thought it strange as they were both samsung. i ended up having to get the samsung V+box which works perfectly well through HDMI it seems the problem is the scart conection. It might be worth phoning virgin and asking for the new V-hd box as that is made by cisco.
