hi getting my v+ box tomorrow by ups for self install (yes VM do do this) what i would like to find out is will this box be brand new or a refurbish has i am paying for this box i would like to think it will be new

If you paid for it, and it turns up refurbished - return it!

Remember that the box remains at all times the property of Virginmedia regardless of any fee paid which is the reason why you will always get free support from Virginmedia for the whole period that you subscribe.

Theres a good chance it will be refurbished. More so if its an SA.

You won't know if it's refurbished and you never paid for the box so you have no rights to decide which box you get.

You only get samsungs on QuickStart as they are easier to set up than sa

Upfront payment for the box is for activation and you are not buying the box.
