HHD space affect picture quailty?

Just a quick one here.

I have noticed as soon as I hit around 12 hours free on my pox, HD live feeds break up from some reason. When I delete some space the picutire is then fine?

When I try to record anything when there is around 12 hours free, it shows the recordibng, but the when I select to play it stalls for a few mintues, shows a blank screen and then shows programme finished pop up box.

Just thinking perhaps my box is faulty.

I was having the break up of signal on 4HD and FIVE HD last night.

Thanks
Liam

Re: HHD space affect picture quailty?

I don't see why it would unless you had went onto DelayTV as a live feed doesn't (or shouldn't) use the hard drive.

Re: HHD space affect picture quailty?

If Live Feed doesn't use the Hard Disk, where is the 90mins of Delay TV buffer stored? For a HD channel that is going to be over 6hrs worth(4x1.5hrs).

You would only use the buffer to watch if you pause or rewind, not live tv.

Re: HHD space affect picture quailty?

The buffer is still stored on the HDD so you can access it if and when required. Though it is stored on on a separate part and is not part of your recording allowance.

Regardless of wether youre watching the buffer, it's always being recorded

Yup. It sort of follows that if a pvr is capable of rewinding live TV then it's got to be storing it somewhere.

I mean for viewing... as I was replying to the post about picture quality. You are only viewing the HDD picture if you are using a PVR feature, i.e pause, rewind of live feed etc.

The live picture is not being viewed from the HDD.

Re: HHD space affect picture quailty?

I thought the live feed is stored in memory not on the HDD. So the fullness of the HDD wouldn't affect it.

Re: HHD space affect picture quailty?

From memory, the 90min delay is only for SD - is HD not only about 30mins?
