Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. III
Well I hope I'm wrong this time but news on Sky Basic HD Channels - Rumour is that VM & Sky are in dispute around Sky1 HD/Sky1 HD On Demand Content.
It’s believed to be around Sky's reluctant to release Sky1 HD, Sky believe the amount of money that’s getting pumped into programming it’s a key channel to have as exclusive to Sky.
Again this most probably comes down to money and now doubts Sky had a clause under the T&C's of the VMTV Sale. - The remaining HD Channels Sky has no issue but VM don’t want to add unless Sky1 HD is part of the package.
I do not believe VM would stall a channel release just for the sake of it and I it seems deeper problems.
I'm only guessing but I would think both the Sky prem and Sky Basic HD channels where priced and priced individually as packages with the VMTV sale and as optional.
I really do hope I'm wrong but the sounds coming out of my sources department don’t seem to be good news and fingers crossed if true VM can resolve

so what you are basically saying is that SKY 1 HD was not included as a guaranteed channel when VM signed their life away and sold out to SKY.
the option VM got is that SKY MAY allow VM to have it in the future IF SKY decide the price is right and its not of a negative to SKY, then
after getting VM TV assest Sky have then told VM to get screwed !!!
and now VM have lost all their TV assests and now have nothing to negotiate with !!!
sound great VM mess it up again !!!!
thats if all this is true and from whats people say Big Red you are usually right.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. III
Am I reading previous posts correctly? Because SKY are pumping money into programming, they no longer class SKY1 HD as a basic channel?

You know...this wouldn't surprise me for sky to renege on some part of 'the deal' if it's true.

Without actually reading the full T&C's of the VMTV sale it would not surprise me if there was a two part deal - Sky Prem HD channels was a must get for VM and seems thats was part of the deal that if agreed to sell then these would come over as soon as they got clearance.
If the Basic HD channels were part of the same deal then these would of got released on the same date 2nd Aug as Prem HD.
That means VM had the Prem HD channels agreed and fee agreed for the sale and the Sky Basic HD channels agreed in principle.
I could be completely wrong and I hope both myself and my source is wrong as I'm like others I can not wait for Sky1 HD.
But you never know we may get the come 1st Oct to coincide with price increases etc.
