Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. II
OK
My personnel choice but I have just added the SkySports and Movies HD channels to my V+HD box for £7 per month (I'm on a VIP Package)
VM are now taking pre orders today with the official details to be released tomorrow/ detail are given over the phone when you call now but £7 is 100% for all customer wanting these HD channels.
1) The £7 covers Prem HD Sky Sports and Sky Movie Channels
2) If you only subscribe to either Movies or Sports then it will still be £7.
3) Its £7 per box (Optional boxes i.e. you do not have to take on all boxes you choose which one)
3) Channels go live date is 2nd Aug.
Sky BASIC HD channels will be added to XL TV this will include Sky Sports News HD at no extra cost - Dates yet to be confirmed for Sky BASIC HD channels as we already have the Sports News Date.

Note the £7 charge is a forced charge from Sky not a VM money maker.

I know what you're saying, but i still feel that personally VM could take a little bit of a hit with the larger users. XL and VIP. i.e. £3/5 per box for VIP/XL, £7 for L and £10 for M+
I pay £93 a month for Virgin, are you telling me that they couldnt afford a £4 loss to keep me happy? Do they only make £2-5 profit on my £93? I dont think so.

£29.00 a month to get sky sports and sky sports hd? Shocking! I always thought virgin would rewards those on xl and VIP since we had no price decrease. Sky really are running the show now!

I have a box upstairs and a box downstairs. Will I say to them I want the box downstairs to have HD?

For the full sky sports you should be paying:
Sky Sports Complete Pack £20.50
Sky HD Premium charge £7.00
= £27.50
Why are you paying £29.00?

That maybe, but M and L customers can now take the HD channels for just £1 more than they were paying for the SD versions last month.
The price decrease on Sky Sports and Movies means that in relative terms HD is costing XL customers £6 more than L and M, so it might not be a VM money maker, but it's sure as hell a way for them to **** off their customers. If XL's pricing for premiums had been reduced in line with the other tiers then no one would be arguing a net increase of £1 for HD versions, instead we're getting the double shafting of a devalued TV package (especially those on VIP) with a nice bit increase if you want to watch in HD.

Remember Sky still charge £10 amonth for HD and if you think about it, we are getting the remaining Sky BASIC HD channels free (XL/VIP customer)
So if were getting SKY BASIC HD channels for free/no extra cost then that shows the HD pack Sky charge really covers its Sky Sports and Movies.
Taking that Sky charge £25.50 for Sports and Movies £27.50 from 1st Sept add your £10 HD for Prem Channels total £37.50 and they get 2 more channels called Sky Sports 3/4 HD.
I agree it would of being nice for VM to discount the XL/VIP customers but they are giving us Free ESPN and all Current HD channels and future Sky Basic at no extra cost
