New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
Basically, all the new HD channels that have been announced, bar ITV1 HD that are to launch in April will only be launched in areas which have been put onto the new NGTV network. This thread is basically to clean up all the posts regarding this matter on the Coming Soon to Virgin TV thread.
EDIT:
For those of you that don't know, the NGTV switch is where everyone is on the same network on the same Super Headend (Main Headend) which means that everyone gets the same channel line up. More information can be found in MB's thread here

Good lad Ben, I was about to do the very same thing with an even more comical title. 'Coming soon to Virgin TV ... or maybe a little later"

Re: New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
Would you rather
1. Have it rushed and have the HD channels, but have problems arise later on especially with finance (due to wasting time upgrading a soon to be closed headend)
- or -
2. Wait for some time, have the HD channels, then have nearly no problems arise later on as they did not waste money upgrading soon to be closed headends) and other reasons.
Personally I would choose 2, I don't mind waiting, we will ALL get it sometime at one point
Just wish more people thought like this

I would like to think that the majority of people would go for the 2nd option, but there are always gonna be people that feel hard done to by not having them

Re: New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
I think probably vm should have said this when they announced the new HD channels after all everyones price rises from april on XL no matter if you have the channels or not at least they could have been honest.
We are on the cambridge headend which has as yet not been upgraded i am reasonably happy to wait as HD is not vital to me,its things like this that are bad for vms image.

Re: New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
I am annoyed but don't mind waiting is the closest one to how I feel. I'm annoyed that their actions have turned a good news story into a bad one. I really dont mind waiting though. As someone pointed out in the other thread we can still view these channels in sd. A couple of months wait isn't the end of the world.

Re: New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
What on Earth is an NGTV switch?
I think I've fallen behind on my knowledge of Cable.
To be honest I'm not fussed what happens. HD is of very little benefit to me anyway, it's not that different on a 26" TV in a small room. Might be ok for those with "home cinema systems" and such nonsense, but not for me.

Possibly not all the rise was but i bet a good portion possibly, unless anybody else knows otherwise, but the price usually rises about this time anyway just by a smaller amount.

Re: New HD Channels...only when your area has had the NGTV Switch
If you have version 4.1, does this mean NGTV will follow shortly?
Or is everyone on 4.1 now?

Ah thank you.
Looks like that's not an indicator then.
Guess it's just all going to be a surprise when either the cards come or BBC Radio London.
