Question re: NGTV, headends, and all that

Question.. Everyone seems to be having their headends hooked into the NGTV network and the super headend, but what happens if your local headend is one of the original platform headends like Bromley? Does Bromley have two headends (platform and local), or are all subscribers hanging off the platform headend?

Apologies if I've got the terminology upside down etc.. Was just curious when Bromley is going NGTV

The NGTV platform enables VM to have 1 platform to transmit the tv signals around the country .At the moment you have Langley Bromley and knowsley .All headends and hubsites will be using this by the end of the year

Re: Question re: NGTV, headends, and all that

In the pre-NGTV world, Bromley has both national and regional headends, but they are closely coupled.

Bromley region is due to switch to NGTV shortly, but the old Bromley national headend will continue to operate until the remaining regions have moved to the NGTV network.

Didn't realise that is what the NGTV was all about, amazing what you find out on a public forum

Bingo - that's the info I was after. Thanks spiderplant - that's satisfied my curiosity

Haven't been down Farwig Lane for years since the Nynex days, be curious to see how much real estate they've gobbled up down there.

I got lazy and used Google Street View - looks like they've got less space than they used to have. The building I remember the headend being in looks even more like a nuclear bunker than it used to be. Looks like the sun was shining at a strange angle at the time the photo was taken as everythings glowing a ghostly white..
