Hiccups

My VM TV service has developed a small problem. Every half hour (variable) I get a small hiccup of silence. No big deal but interested to find out if anyone else has experienced it and if it's worth reporting.
BTW I am a Romford, Essex subscriber.
I have also had a couple of re-boots recently during the evening. The system restored OK but again I am just interested as to whi it has occurred. Could the problems be linked.
Thanks in advance for any help / advice.

I'd do a full connection check, especially scart leads - pull them out and re-connect.

Do a hard reboot, unplug STB for 30 seconds and reconnect.

If it continues, then call faults on 151 as you may need a tech to resolve this.

Re: Hiccups

Ive had this myself recently, every so often the sound will go off for a second or two, then come back as normal. Timing is about right every half an hour, and we get it most on ITV

Audio drop out problem

Hi everyone, had a search around the forum but can't see anyone with the same sort of problem...

I'm having problems with the audio on live broadcasts dropping out every 10/15 minutes or so - just for a second, but often enough to become a bit annoying. I've noticed it on my SA V+ box, but not on my Sammy V+ box in another room. It seems to have started when I swapped over to the new smart card a couple of weeks ago. On demand programmes are not affected, and it's definitely the V+ box rather than the TV as the audio drop outs are picked up on recordings.

Just a long shot but has anyone else come across a similar problem recently and knows what to do, or should I just go ahead and call customer services? Thanks!

Someone may be along to help you but in the meantime call customer services anyway, you never know they might have the answer

Re: Audio drop out problem

Same problem myself. Posted it as hiccups and again added thread tonight. I have only noticed it since card change and only on main STB which is a V+ and not on Samsung in bedroom.
Are you in the London/ Romford area?

Re: Audio drop out problem

Hi Caveman, yes I'm in Romford too. Just had a look at your thread and it seems there's a few of us in the same area that are affected.

I gave Faults a call yesterday from work but as expected didn't get very far as they wanted me at home by the box to do some tests. I didn't get round to calling in the evening.

It's only my SA V+ box that is affected - is yours a SA V+ box too? My Sammy V+ box in another room hasn't been affected after the recent card swap.

Re: Hiccups

Hi Caveman - just doubling up on my reply in my "Audio drop out" thread. How do you get a moderator to merge threads?

Like I said, yes I'm in Romford with the same sound drop out problem since the smart card swap a couple of weeks ago.

It's only my SA V+ box that is affected - my Sammy V+ box in another room hasn't been affected after the recent card swap. What type of box do others have that are affected by the same problem?

Yes mine is a SA V+ box as is my pal along the road who has the same problem of both sound hiccups and re-boots. His is more alarming as he outputs his audio intoa HR receiver and then to 6 speakers which makes him jump.
Mine is only to TV and not so bad but annoying. The reboots are annoying however as they inerupt recordings.

That doesn't sound too good for the nerves

Ok, I'll give Faults another call tonight if I don't get back too late and see if they have any ideas.

Re: Audio drop out problem

I'm still having at least 1 re-boot a day that the box is doing on it's own. I know it usually happens over night but it's becoming a joke during the day/evening. It has just rebooted again at 20:30 !!! Is it worth complaining as it has started to affect recordings now so could I get compensation ? Seems tobe worse now the new card has been put in Any suggestions please ?
