Thanks, that's helpful.

I might go for a Sky+ box off eBay, but my LNB only has one "outlet" so i'll have to get someone in to upgrade it. Alternatively, what are the options for the VM equivalent?

Afcwimbledon2 is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: TiVO Premiere gives us a glimpse of what may be to come...

What happens for those who got a V+ box before? Do we get it replaced?

you can get SkyHD boxes off Sky cheap and they will install a new LNB while they are at it ( but you are in a new contract then)

I see that Sky are launching a 1 terabyte sky plus box. I hope VM do the same when they launch Tivo. It takes relatively few HD recordings to fill up the hard disc on my V+ box.

Interview with Cindy Rose VM’s Executive director of digital entertainment

Quote:
……the complicated challenge is to get a Virgin Media service to those who are not actually connected to the Virgin network. Rose says it is too complicated at this stage to explain the technology, but it is a big commercial opportunity which she is going after.
That’s a key part of Rose’s aim to make Virgin “the digital superpower it ought to be” – but for now that Tivo-powered set-top box will play a pivotal role in the hoped for transformation.

I think someone needs to reign Ms Rose in from making hyperbolic statements like

Quote:
She says that it brings the best of the web to the TV screen, in the form of apps, and offers a search service which is “smarter than Google”.

Me too. I've been putting off a "proper" solution (i.e. HD) for the bedroom until there's more info on these things.
