Same here Adam. I have to switch to Freestat to record any decent films on my Panny PVR/Blu-Ray if I want true surround sound.

Virgin Techs - Is this likely to be fixed or are we stuck with PCM 2.0?

Have you got HDMI over-ride set to ON or OFF? You need it set to ON to get 5.1 through to your AMP.

Also are you getting 5.1 on the films on Freesat, but the same film is 2.0 on VM?

Re: ITV1 HD on Virgin

Most of the HD channels switch between 5.1 and pro logic, I've never yet had a continuation broadcast of 5.1 on any HD channel, and have yet to hear a 5.1 broadcast on itv, even last nights under siege 2 on scifi was pro logic.

Re: ITV1 HD on Virgin

Can anyone confirm if any programme has been broadcast in 5.1 on ITV1 HD on Satellite, but not on VM?

EDIT: Checked other forums (Sky) and ITV1HD does not broadcast anything in 5.1 currently

Re: ITV1 HD on Virgin

Reading through whatsontv magazine there is nothing in HD on itv today, I would guess that only the FA cup and champions league have possibly been broadcast in HD on freesat, and maybe the odd film

---------- Post added at 12:57 ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 ----------

Not even last ever Frost made it in HD

Should have said, I get all other VM HD channels in DD2, 5.0 or 5.1. Nat Geo HD is probably the best with nearly all their progs in 5.1.

I'm not sure if Freesat ITV HD was 5 or just DD 2.0 but it was definitely DD as opposed to VM's PCM. Can't check right now as I've deleted everything from the PVR, but I'll be sure to pay attention the next big film I record.

Great picture for the footy on ITV HD.

(God, I've wanted to say that for ages as a cable customer).

Re: ITV1 HD on Virgin

Well congratulations for putting the ITV1 HD dog in the top right hand corner, the least distracting place for it and bonus points for actually put it in the corner.

However I deduct the bonus points straight away for the ITV sports DOG, two dos on on screen urgh.
