When did that happen? I've stayed in Scotland most of my tender years and don't recall voting for independence. 
I'm surprised there wasn't something in the papers about it.... or even a topic on CF.

everyone in the UK should pay the same for whatever it is.

You are honestly comparing NHS fees to pay TV? 
Go to a pub in Scotland and order a pint. Then do the same in England. If the English one costs more for the same beer, are you saying that's unfair and that the English have some kind of god-given right to pay the same price for the same item, just because we're all taxed the same? There are market forces at work as well as several other complicated licensing arrangements, as has already been demonstrated.

This is how the ITV/Channel 3 system has worked since it's inception, you can't be compensated for not being able to access another region. If you have an issue you'd be best writing to STV, it's nothing to do with Virgin or ITV plc.
