Well just as well you agreed to be a triallist then - so you can help Virgin iron out any bugs
However, it doesn't do anything more than a normal box does - apart from HD. So I'm not sure what you are meaning by 'IPTV or any other additional functionality'

Which remote have you got?
The Blue one doesnt work 100%, eg: the back button doesn't work.
AFAIK you need to use the V+ remote which obviously has more buttons than required.
As for sound, make sure you try the different settings in the menu. I suspect that 'Dolby' will only work if you are hooked up to a suitable decoder.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)
I have the black V+ remote. As far as additional functionality, this box should be capable of IPTV and internet connectivity with the included ethernet port and this was alluded to by the individual who called and asked me to join the trial.

Virgin do not offer either IPTV or internet connectivity through their STBs, so even if it is capable it won't be enabled

Re: New HD box (non PVR)
anyone had one of these installed outside of the trial yet?
I read on another forum that they were being istalled around the north london area last week?
Like a lot of people, I tried to get one off VM but was told still testing but would be out in a few months.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)
They are still on trial.
You can't request one. People who sign up for a V-Box in the trial areas may be offered one, but there is no guarantee.

Any ideas when these will be on general release? I'm pretty keen to replace my 2nd box with one of these in time for the World Cup With the extra HD channels being announced this becomes all the more wanted!

Hard to predict It all depends on how well the trial goes.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)
i would like to think that the people involved will hurry up and sort out the bugs before the world cup
seriously,it would be a great assett to advertise in the coming months.
but please,no 'ORDER BEFORE **/**/2010 AND GET INSTALLED IN TIME FOR KICK-OFF' type of marketing because as we all know this goes to ratpoo every christmas!!!

I think they are hopign to have it avaialble from the world cup, but two problem, if they find there problems with eh box they might need to get major udates done then retest jus tlike beta software. second if they do release there could be higher than expect demand and you might no get one
