Now if that is the box and becomes available in black, i would be tempted to bin my v+ off as i only really have it for the hd capabilities and dont think i've ever actually used the pvr function

I am sure they will be black considering the current fashions.

I am baffled! If you're on XL TV why would you want to downgrade your STB when you aren't paying extra for it anyway???

I have no real use for the pvr functions and also, it is one of the SA V+ boxes that in my case takes 3 weeks to decide to do anything when i press a button.

I would settle for a samsung V+ but as that option isnt open to me and as already said, dont use the pvr function then this is the next option.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)

Its a good idea, as people want HD just not a PVR, I myself would have one as I don't really need a PVR funcation, but my dad and sister record alot so this not a option for me until I move out.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)

Surly this box will is just a final replacement for the standard box, you won't be able to request it. It will just be fitted for customers that don't want a PVR

I guess for users who receive this box they can then add a HD package at cost (but then that would defeat the point in having a standard box and not just get a V+ box (unless they plan on introducing a HD package))

If this is to be a replacement box then they really need to consider actively swapping the oldest of boxes out there.

Re: New HD box (non PVR)

A pvr less HD box could ofc be VM offering remote PVR capabilities.

There really is little purpose in offering a STB without PVR capabilities these days as it's only marginally more expensive than a non-PVR box, so maybe they have other things in mind.

I don't think analogue connectors are going to be phased out any time soon, there so much legacy kit out there that anyone that does this in the next 10 years will lose sales. Scart and phono will still be around for a longtime, component maybe the first to get phased out though.

As for the box, i wouldn't mind one to replace the one I have in the bedroom so I can watch FX in widecreen for the HD feed. Although I am baffled at the number of people that say they don't need or want PVR capability. I don't think i could watch TV any other way now.

As someone has already said its marginal to add a PVR. PVR is basically standard on boxes now. This seems a backwards step

I am a VIP customer, and my 2nd box is a standard V Box on a HD Ready TV. If I could get one of these to replace the standard box at no extra monthly cost I'd be very interested
