Re: dvd recorder
Scart from DVD player to the VCR Scart out on the V+ box.
At least that's the theory. I've had no luck with it so far.

Re: dvd recorder
If you want to transfer your recordings from your V+ to the DVD recorder the scart needs to go in the bottom of the 2 scart sockets on the V+.

Re: dvd recorder
I've tried that myself and the recording's picture quality is not good. Like watching a swarm of slightly faded bees invading my recording!

Re: dvd recorder
I have heard people say that in the past but my recordings transfer across perfectly so I can't suggest a solution other to maybe check that both ends of the scart are pushed well in.
Hopefully a staffer or one of the members who has solved the problem will be along to help soon.

Re: dvd recorder
If I push the connections in any further, they will become fused forever! LOL
The only thing I can think is the scart lead or the DVD recorder itself. Then again, come to think of it, I had the same problem when I had my Sky box... Hmm... Maybe it's either/or/both.

Re: dvd recorder
I found it depends on how good your dvd recorder is too...

Could you try recording direct from your TV to your DVD recorder. If you cut out the V+ and the recordings are still pants then you will know the V+ isn't to blame. If another scart cable is then used you can, with a bit of luck, narrow down to problem to either the scart or the DVD recorder.

Re: dvd recorder
What is the recording quality setting?
HQ, SP, LP, EP, SLP.
HQ is best at 1hr/DVD(4.7Gb), SLP is worst 8hr/DVD

Re: dvd recorder
The settings refer to picture quality.
HQ = High Quality
SP = Normal
LP = Long Play
EP = 6 hours
SLP = 8 hours
Unless it was a recording I knew I would want to keep and re-watch several times I always used LP to record on to my DVD-Ram so that I could fit more on each disc but still keep a clean recording. I guess it will depend on the DVD recorder which setting would work best for you.

Re: dvd recorder
If the DVD recorder has a scart in and a scart out, try daisy chaining it.
That was the only way I could get my recorder to work (with a watchable picture) on my Sky+.
OK I know we are talking V+ but I think it's the same in principal.

Re: dvd recorder
The quality being recorded is what is shown on the TV screen. So whatever I see gets recorded in the same quality.
As for recording from TV to recorder, that won't be possible as the only signal coming into the TV has to be digital, thus Sky or VM.

I was not suggesting taking your V+ completely out of the equation just not using it's archiving option. ie set the V+ to play one of your recording then record that from your TV directly to the recorder.
Have you tried a new scart lead yet?

Re: dvd recorder
OIC. I would record something and if I want to keep any portion or all, then I archive. Not the end of the world if I can't.
I need to 'borrow' a scart lead and test it, so no, not yet.
