Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

I have a Goodman 32inch LCD TV, with virgin Samsung box SMT2100c, virgin box is connected to the telly via scart lead. I want to get the TV audio output on my mini HI-FI (Aiwa JAX N-1).
I plugged an RCA cable on the TV digital output and the “video/aux" input of the mini hi-fi, but this won’t work.
I have tried various RCA cables but no joy, any ideas please

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

The Hifi will be expecting an Analogue input, is there no Red/White audio out on the TV or the V box? Some TVs output audio on one of the scarts

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

'digital' output won't work into 'video/aux' inputs which expect analogue signal.

I'm not familiar with smt2100 box, but does it have rca sound output? - if so, that is what should be connected to your mini hifi video/aux connectors, not via the TV.

<edit> sorry Graham didn't see your post before I wrote mine ...

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

No RCA output on either Samsung box. Will require a Scart to Phono lead from the VCR Scart socket.

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

There is no other audio out on the telly and the V box. though the V box has another scart output, wondering if there is anything like SCART-to-RCA converter and if it can solve the problem
sorry ben didn't see your post before writting, i think we are talking about same thing, scart to rca, where can i get dsuch cable?

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

Yes there is, that'll do the job, as I say some TVs also use one of the scarts for Audio out but obviously you lose one socket while its in use

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

If you have a spare Scart on the TV you can fit a Scart to Phono adaptor like THIS

If not you need a Scart breakout adaptor in the line between the Samsung and the TV like THIS. Or use the adaptor above on the VCR scart of the Samsung, if it's not in use.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SCART-TO-S-VID...d=p3286.c0.m14 should do the job, ignore the S-Video it's surplus to requirements but doesn't matter

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

Surely all the OP needs is a scart to scart with ohono output? Like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SCART-TO-SCART...d=p3286.c0.m14

You certainly want to stay with scart to get the best quality picture out of the V box.

Re: Connecting TV audio to Mini HI-FI

That would also do the job, the main thing is they are trying to get the audio off, so either way would work
