Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
from a personal point of view I don't watch any of these channels althogh I think living does show CSI. Is that in front of or behind 5 ?
It is good news on the HD front and shows VM do actually want this on their network when they can sign deals. Hopefully this will be a sign of things moving in the right direction. Ok it isn't the ones I watch but i'm sure living gets higher viewers that some of the stuff i watch on Eurosport

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
If thats the best they can come up with for a launch of HD I would be embarrassed and would have kept quiet and sneaked them channels in when no one was watching, only Nat Geo is a channel you could say of quality and lets face it, I think we all have seen the content broadcast on that channel, as for Living, FX and MTV you can count the viewers for those channels on one hand as they are definite one program a week watchers, and the type of channel you give away for free in every packet of corn flakes, so nothing to shout about, and the wait really was not worth it. Surely its not that difficult to get the basic terrestrials of itv and channel 4 as they are watched by the majority of the country and would appease most virgin subscribers.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
I'm on the L TV package. So am I correct in assuming that I will need to fork out an extra £11.50 a month to get these channels?

It took an AGE to get the 4 channels we're getting now, so where's your evidence of "more channels."????
I would have congratulated VM a few months ago for geting these but p 1ss up in a brewery spring to mind.
Oh and P.s the only other "active" talk with other HD providers seems to be Good Food.

That's where you're wrong, the only posts I claim are facepalm worthy are silly posts. People who are either unrealistic or moan about VM constantly. You know full well there will be more channels, eventually, we know they're testing some channels that haven't yet been announced, and in regards to Channel 4 HD, VM can add that to the list whenever they like.
These are hardly 'bad' chanells, it's better than nothing and it's a good start. Add to these the ones that are almost certain to appear shortly after (Eurosport HD, CH4 HD ITV HD etc.), it'll be a great lineup.
So don't tell me to get over yourself, when I'm the one trying to talk sense into people who constantly moan and complain.

You have to pay a fiver extra for it, plus another fiver for having a V+ so really it's only £1.50 extra...

Correct but I'm not that interested in VOD. I don't think I'll be parting with £11.50 a month to get a few HD channels. I'll wait until they have a better line up. Maybe if Eurosport, CH4 and ITV were included I might consider it.

Remember, you don't have to pay the £5 V+ Charge if you are on XL so that brings it down to £5.50

Fair enough.
Have you checked to see what HD is available on VOD lately? Im sure there is more now.
At least things are moving in the right direction at last with the new channels and also the new movies package for a fiver which has 21 out of 28 movies in hd.
Ive dropped sky movies for that package as part of a review of our package and saved money in the process.

Living gets around half the viewers of Sky one, which is hardly a "count on one hand" figure. FX shows some great shows, and is getting better all the time (which is why it won 2 awards at the digital channel awards, including best entertainment channel) so again, is hardly a "one program a week" channel.
You might not like them, but FX and Living are not throw away channels.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
The only poor channel in that lineup is MTV, the others all have some good programs to offer, and with more HD channels on the way, it's in no way a bad selection.

You won't be paying that to get a few HD channels, you'll be paying it to get the extra channels on XL.
