Dual HDMI output
Hi all
Is it possible to get a splitter so that I can feed 2 HD televisions from the same V+ box?
I already have a video sender that will cope with my romote control signal. What I want to do is to feed the signal from downstairs to the bedroom whilst still connected to the set downstairs (If I go through the celing in the lounge it is only about 5m between both sets). I would use my existing video sender to cope with the remote signal. I am thinking of this route as I am aware that the standard scart output is disabled when I use HDMI and the video out scart dosent carry the menu info (which would be handy).
I dont yet have an HD set for the bedroom but as the prices are comming down if this would work then I would consider getting one.

Re: Dual HDMI output
Quick cheap shot here, but couldnt you just manually swap the HDMI leads before you toddle off to bed?
Im only saying that because I looked at some HDMI switchers for my TV with only 1 HDMI socket when I wanted to switch between ps3 and v+.
Once I saw the price, a quick cable swap saved me so much money, and as i'm a tight ass a bit of piece of mind.
Kind Regards!

Re: Dual HDMI output
It is certainly something I have thought about. Trouble is my V+ is somewhat tucked away in a recesed shelf.
Like you though if it is possible but not cheap then I will put up with reaching behind the box. (I also squeek when I walk ;-)

Re: Dual HDMI output
You can get one that is fully HDCP compliant and will feed both TVs at the same time for £48

Re: Dual HDMI output
I was also thinking of the doing the same thing.
Someone suggested to me using HDMI over CAT5 (network cable) senders with the splitter, rather than just a long HDMI cable but my TV's are a bit further apart.

Re: Dual HDMI output
Thanks for the replies, and the suggestions, it looks like I have options.
Thanks again.
(Now I have to find an HD telly for £20 and I will be a happy boy ;-)
Cheers
John

Again, not cheap:

Try CAT5, fibre or the distribution amps

Re: Dual HDMI output
Not as cheap as some of the other options, but a friend of mine has bought one of these (4 port HDMI switch with twin output) from E-Bay and it works really well.
He's about the only person I know who is running a form of HDMI network in his house to bounce signals around between 2 rooms and his 2 HDTVs.

Re: Dual HDMI output
You could upgrade your AV sender to an HD internet sender like the Slingbox Solo (about 120GBP) or Slingbox Pro (about 160GBP), coupled with a Sling Catcher (200 GBP). Not cheap though!!!
You'd need to change your setup from using HDMI to using HD component though, otherwise you'll have to keep switching from HDMI to component in the V+ options every time you want to watch TV upstairs which would get annoying.
Out of interest does anyone know if any Virgin content won't output on HD component and will only output on HDMI (for security purposes)? I've never looked in to it but it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case for HD movies. In which case this would be quite a problem for Slingboxes.
