Just (Jan 7th 2009) called VM customer services - they said Sky 1 is only on digital and not coming back on analogue.
It's entirely likely that the CSR you spoke to doesn't have a scooby about the specific arrangements VM has planned, area by area, especially any peculiar cases like MK where you're unlikely to get a digital upgrade any time soon.

Quote:
I had a laugh when he said they are going to upgrade everyone to digital by 2012.
No-one is going to recable the whole of MK are they ?
Regards,
My point exactly. Just how trustworthy do you think this CSR's information was?

That said, I assume you're posting because MK *still* hasn't got Sky 1 back? If that's the case, it should be pursued at a higher level, because VM did issue an official statement promising that a select few analogue-only areas would get Sky 1 back.

Hi Chris,
where could I see that official statement.
It would be good to have as ammo to call CS again.

Neil

That item was posted in response to a Press statement we got from Virgin Media. I don't have my copy of it any more but another of the team here might ...

Re: Sky One Not Back in Milton Keynes

It did say it on the Customer Zone but they have updated it and it now makes no mention.

But Sky One definately should be back in Milton Keynes

Re: Sky One Not Back in Milton Keynes

Hi all,
yes I hope someone else has that Press Statement.
Customer Zone only talks about the digital packages M/L/XL.
The postcode checker says we can get 35 channels and superfast b/b.

"It looks like your home is in our analogue area. This means you can get some of our Virgin Media cable services including superfast broadband, over 35 TV channels and great value deals on your mobile or home phone."

Anyone know what those 35 channels are?

It says call an 0845 number - I won't, as that costs, but I will use the free alternative number (thanks to saynoto0870 site again!). Last time I called them they said superfast b/b was not available....

Regards,
Neil

Not many people are able to use Sky in Milton Keynes and Westminster, thats why they put up with Analogue.

Virgin are rubbish? Isnt it Sky that has appeared on watchdog several times because of its dodgy boxes, even celebrities complained appeared on the show!. And isnt it ripping people off with its Sky Movie operations, what a rip off they are!

BT are the main cause of the poor cable service in Milton Keynes and Westminster City Council as well as BT are the main cause of it in Westminster, BT are a complete waste of time and money! They sold off BT Cellnet and Genie and its mobile operations in Germany,Holland and Ireland, what the hell did they spend it on??? I dont see fibre optic broadband! nor an upgrade to the Analogue cable network in Westminster/Milton Keynes.

Re: Sky One Not Back in Milton Keynes

Sounds familiar with TalkTalk when they sent my dad a bill in someone elses name for a crazy amount and sent a bill to a neighbour that left TalkTalk 4 months before in my dads name! Its madness!

Orange are famous for opening 2 accounts at a time when a customer signs up for a contract or sim only option for pay monthly, Orange then challenge customers saying that it was a done deal and you'd need to pay for both accounts even though you only ordered 1 and only need 1!!! It then takes ages to rectify!

And the problem we had with BT was that when someone in our block opened an account, they activate our line in there name, our BT line was ripped out time ago.

I think they should fine these companies for breaching the Data Protection Act since they are sharing peoples bills and names with strangers!

What's the issue in MK? Is freeview/freesat not an option?

Re: Sky One Not Back in Milton Keynes

Absolutely an option, but on the basis that I've paid them for 7 years and got half or less of the service I've paid for I want to know. And then when I've had an acceptable refund I'll cancel the contract. If they had concrete plans to roll out fibre in the next couple of years I might stay with them, but thats not going to happen so...

Hell will freeze over first. If that's all you're hanging on for, you really are wasting your time (and money). Go and get yourself a nice Freesat+HD box from Humax (or wait for the Metronic box later in the spring if you'd like the choice).

But I mean, what is that problem with VM not rolling digital out to MK? Is it because MK looks naff on google earth?
