Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?

So your one of the fraudsters then. No wonder you take the stance you do.

Your analogy is better than mine. However it reaches the same conclusion for me.

If you get careless and leave your wallet lying around it doesn't make it your fault if someone steals it. Its the criminal who steals it who is at fault. That is how the law of the land works.

There is such a thing as honest people, for example I accidentally left my phone in the back of a taxi on a night out, the taxi driver handed it in to the police station the next day. Most people would have done the same.

VM are responsible for leaving the boxes in circulation, however that doesn't mean its their fault that people modd them and steal cable with them.

I kind of agree with you in the fact that if VM didn't leave boxes lying around then there wouldn't be any to modd. Much better to not create the potential for a problem in the first place, however to make a sweeping statement that cable fraud is only VM's fault is unfair. There is a saying that 'Opportunity makes a thief' so I do understand where you are coming from but it is the thieving itself that is the criminal act, not the leaving behind of legal boxes.

If you are going to accuse someone maybe you should read what they actually wrote...

From Zing's post

'Now I could have simply got it modded if I wanted and VM wouldnt have a clue'

No where did he say he DID mod a box.

What would be the point - he's got sky+ HD same as me if I recall correctly.

Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?

Just noticed the Ebay scammers who are selling the dodgy boxes have added a cop out on there auctions.

They know there about to lose out so they have added that to stop them getting there knees done.

It just shows what sort of folk these scammers are. I hope they make massive losses on the stock they have left, however I suspect not unfortunately

What is needed is for VM to complete the roll out of the new system as fast as possible.

Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?

By the way, did anybody see the utterly stupid post on the VM newsgroups asking for help with a cloned modem?
