Why is that a security issue?
Telling punters when the planned roll out of the new cards is due to be completed hardly constitutes a security issue. I think its rather the case they probably don't have a firm date in mind when they hope to complete it.

Fairy snuff but it is inconvenient for the ordinary punter..especially as we don't know where we are in the timetable and what happens if we get forgotten and don't get a smart card. How will we know if we have been forgotten?
Unlikely I know but not impossible or unheard of...

Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?
As far as I know, messages appear on your stb telling you to insert new smart card before the actual full switch over. So if you haven't received your new card by then a quick call to cs will resolve the situation.

I can think of a few reasons why VM don't advertise the dates for each region. Part of me hopes there is a cynic in charge of the roll out schedule who likes to read the "dodgy" forums to see "I just bought this new box from a guy in a pub, and now it's stopped working".
If I were in charge of the roll out, I'd keep the schedule quiet for that reason anyway.

They say there is no honour amongst thieves, Has anyone seen the increase in the sale of 3rd party boxes at knock down prices on ebay. You have box traders and those that have been hit already trying to off load there kit to the gullible who have no idea that they are getting ripped off .

Yes, but will I get an SA doorstop or a Samsung doorstop?
Should I go for a V+ doorstop?
It's important, you know...

Unless you have an extra large door you have to pay a monthly fee for the V+ doorstop. It is capable of stopping more than one door at the same time though.

The names have never been banned, it's people asking/explaining how to use them which is not allowed..

Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?
sorry I was under the impression they were frowned upon as putting the names basically gives it away for people who want them

Re: Virgin media possibly getting serious on dodgy boxes?
Do you think there will be people ringing up VM to tell them their boxes don't work now? There's got be some dumb enough people to do that!
