virgin line question

Hi, Basically Ive recently moved into a student house. In my bed room (upstairs) there is a cable wire box... (whats usually outside the house). We also have one outside the house that feeds through to my housemates room (downstairs) that's for the virgin TV and broadband. My housemate is moving out for a few months so I want to put the virgin TV in my room. Ive already tried plugging the virgin box in the the cable wire box in my room... but there seems to be no connection between the two... so I'm guessing it's been disconnected... is there anyway i can get this working without having a wire that goes from my housemates room in to mine...?

Thank you

Re: virgin line question

Yep, should be quite easy.

Give Virgin a call and get them to come and connect it up for you.

Re: virgin line question

Thanks for fast reply....
Won't that cost to install?... and also will they disconnect the existing one in my housemates room? because I wanted to leave that connection there for the broadband.

Re: virgin line question

I would imagine that they might charge you for the install, but they will also charge you if you attempt to rig it up yourself and get it horribly wrong.

I'm not sure whether they would need to disconnect your housemate's connection.

You should also bear in mind that if the account is in his name they probably won't even talk to you about it!

Re: virgin line question

Ah i see...
Just thinking.. is there a device for virgin TV like the Sky Multiroom?
That way I could leave the box in his room and then send the signal up to my room and still change the channel.
That's if they have it :S

Re: virgin line question

No but if you have a blue ntl remote for the STB or have a V+ you can go get any standard Digi Sender from Argos etc

For an additional cable point installed by Virgin it is £75.

Yeah I've got a remote for the STB.... so if i get a standard digi sender from Argos or wherever... I can keep the box downstairs and then send the signal to my TV upstairs and still change channel in my room?

Re: virgin line question

Yes (as I said needs to be a Blue ntl remote and not a black one, unless the box is a V+)

Yes, it's £9.50/month + installation
Sky Multiroom is £10/month + installation + box cost.

Works with NTL & Telewest Cable, but only without remote control function (old set top boxes only).
