V+ to PSP

Was not sure where best to post this? MODs move if necessary.

Is it possible to move recorded items to my PSP? If so how?

TIA

Re: V+ to PSP

I don't have a PSP, however, for any device to directly handle the output, even as archived stuff, from the V+ then the device needs to have a recording function. Does such software exist on the PSP?

I suspect you would have to copy via a TV capable graphics input card (using a scart to s-video type lead) to your PC, convert to a PSP suitable format on the PC, and then download to the PSP.

Re: V+ to PSP

Well I have a PSP and I have done this occasionally.

Basically I also have a Windows Media Centre 2005 PC which has a TV tuner card (with composite video inputs) that is connected to the second scart of the V+ box.

If I want to transfer a programme from the V+, I go into the extra's menu and choose archive to DVD. Then on the Media Centre PC, I record the programme as it plays.

This is recorded as an AVI file which you can then convert to the correct format for the PSP - basically an MP4 file. I use a program to do this called AVS which seems to convert just about anything to anything.

As far as I know, there is no way to go directly to the PSP as it has no way of receiving a video signal.

It's possible that if you have a PS3 as well, when the new Play TV freeview TV receiver add on comes out, apparently now due out in September in the UK, you will be able to record stuff on your PS3 then watch it on the PSP using the "location free" software built into both or even transfer it to the memory card.

Re: V+ to PSP

Hi again StoneIsland. There's a new device coming out which may be of interest to you, the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2:-

http://www.neurostechnology.com/recorder-2-series

It records directly from your V+ box to a Memory Stick which is then ready to be inserted straight in to your PSP. Bit pricey though. The first version came out about 3 years ago but I remember reading that the sound quality was not too good. Version 2 looks to be a load better.

I use the Sony LocationFree Player but that's only good if you're in WiFi range. Great product though and I'm using the very first model (about 70 quid at the moment on Amazon).

The other option which I sometimes use and which is cheaper but more hassle, is to archive from V+ to DVD, then I use SlySoft's Clone DVD Mobile to convert to PSP. Bit of a pain but you can leave it going at each stage and get on with other stuff so it's not too bad, remember that you can watch something else while the V+ archives a program.

Just remebered, you could also check out Go!View which is Sky's VOD for PSP, but then you'd be paying twice for your VOD, once to Virgin and once to Sky. Good selection though.

If your follow this as far as getting the file recorded onto your pc, u could use TVersity to stream to your Internet enabled PSP/Xbox/PS3 .... on a PSP, you view in the web browser, and itll save to memory card by default .. . conversion is done on the fly ..
