BTW, the topic is what's 'Coming Soon' and not relative picture qualities - thanks

Some people just have a lower quality threshold.

I have noticed that with my family, they can see the difference but do not see why it matters. I think that where theproblem lies with people expecting to high a quailty because they have seen something in very high quailty on one channel they expect the rest ot be the same. And unless you bother about it then most people do not care. Personal i rather go with HD but hay i have for 6 years

NP
By all means feel free to start a new thread in an appropriate area if you feel you want to carry on discussing the relative qualities and other issues that have been raised in this one. You may even find it's already being discussed

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV
doesnt virgin control the bitrates and resolutions for each channel that air on cable?
If there is a eurosportHD channel, why not air eurosport in ws.pdtv with 720x576? doesnt make sense to air in 544x576 with 2mbps bitrate.
Surely you could increase the bitrate on some of the channels and make E4 720x576 as it used to be a while ago, now its 544x576 which makes all their first airings on E4 look very bad

Ditto here too.
Setanta HD could be a possibility. They already broadcast in HD to the North American market.

Setanta does have a dreadful picture, it's over compressed, when there's too much of one colour or fast movement like football then it becomes a mush.
Some people may have poor sight that probably don't notice it, but it is really plain to see and unless you have a 14" TV, poor sight or used to watching poor web-streams then it's there for all.
