As always your contribution to this debate is as inaccurate, invalid and unfunny as the last one.
HD argument is irrelevant. SD TV does me fine on Virgin and I do find that there is plenty of content to watch thanks. Infact the V+ box makes SD even better, so that does me rather than paying for rip off content just because it happens to be in better quality.
All 'those' missing channels - you're talking 4 channels at most:-
Sky One - A channel full of repeated overly high rated crap. No loss there then.
Sky News - Just a news channel. No loss there then.
Sky Sports - A Sports channel. Can watch matches down the pub. So no loss there then.
Sky Sports News - A Sky Sports news channel. No loss there then.
Btw - I got rid of the Sky Movie packages because they aren't value for money. In other words they are crap.
Please stop making it sound like we have lost the crown jewels - we haven't.
Well done - thanks for highlighting how immature you can get.

Congratulations you qualify for freeview!

Yet another weak, inaccurate, invalid and unfunny response emanating from your vicinity.
I have more channels than Freeview and you know that, but if I was left with the choice to just have Freeview or Sky - I'd pick Freeview any day.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
I cant be bothered to read through the 5 Pages here, but basically, the whole thread is another useless rumor filled piece of rubbish, giving false hope to those who hang on every last word said to have the words "Sky Basics Virgin Media" in them.
Quote:
|
"The doors are reportedly open at Sky and they are open here," he told investors following the announcement of Virgin's first quarter results. "We have had dialogue from time to time but as of today we still have no conclusion... there is no news to report."

Case closed.

I have heard that they do, but i've never seen anything to say the figures are low, lower than they were or higher to make a judgement.
Even if the figures are "low" as it was put, what are they low compared too?
That's why i didn't reply, i don't have a baseline to judge one way or the other nor does the original poster provide a link to back up his claim.

Can I have a link to back up your claim that Freeview has more channels than VM DTV? (See quote below)
Awww, come on please, you apparently don't reply unless you have baseline to judge one way or the other.

I never made a claim that Freeview has more channels.
You must be making assumptions again.
You seem to be saying that you dont like to watch anything with the word Sky in the channel name. As the owner of cableforum, i wouldn't expect you to be unbiased but to write down the name of every Sky channel and explain why you dont like it is a bit OTT dont you think?
It *could* be construed you were taking bungs carrying on like that.
You seem to be very happy paying the same subscription price for a reduced number of channels as well, most bizarre.
As for not replying because i don't have any baseline to judge (as the original opinion provided by the original poster did not have any link or figures to back up his claim), your damn right i didn't respond. See, i don't make claims my butt cant cash.
You should take that on board Mick, sometimes your friends aren't the most reliable of sources.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
Why does everyone say "your paying for less channels"?
We pay for the ability to have VOD also. And other goodies, like BBC iPlayer and so on.

You were paying X amount, you had Sky channels.
Then you were still paying X amount - and the Sky channels weren't there.
And there WERE a LOT of unhappy subscribers who did miss Sky even if some on here didn't.
You could argue that VOD came along and so its technically not less, but its just another feature that you would have got anyway, Sky or no Sky.
I got Sky Anytime, which admittedly is crap by comparison to Virgin VOD, but it didn't cost me any more.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
This is a pointless argument, whether you have Sky TV or VM-TV everyone [nearly] has a choice as to what they want, if you don't like one or the other switch providers, as someone said earlier we are not in the playground boasting as to who has the most channels or content, I'm sure both have their positives and negatives.
