Arthur, you are as entitled to your viewpoint as everyone else here - we are just asking that you make it easier for us to understand your viewpoint.
By the way, did you take Sky's offer?

You can lose that tone straight away. Snide remark it may have been, I have finally got your attention at last. For some time now - It has been politely suggested to you for you to use paragraphs and subtle hints have also been dropped, not just from me and you have chosen to ignore these and you continue to post full blown sentences without any breaks - This is very hard on peoples eyes, harder still on people who suffer partial blindness. It's also hard to interpret what you actually mean because every other few words has a comma. This is over use of said punctuation.
It's rare I complain about how people use the English language, how they use punctuation, spelling and grammer. The bottom line is that if is understandable its fine with me.
It would be nice sometimes if rather than over use of the comma key, you pressed enter once in a while. I am sorry to have to say this but the way your posts are, I am less inclined to read them because its too much effort to decipher and interpret such a long and drawn out post with absolutely no breaks and or paragraphs.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
<Grit teeth, suppress sarcasm, all lights green, go!>
What the people promoting the optional take up seem to be missing is that the price of the Sky package will vary dramatically depending on the number of people who take it up. If we assume that it will cost £1 if everyone has it, then it will cost £3 if only a third of the subscribers feel the need. Lower advertising revenue on the smaller numbers may "require" a further penalty payment, if Sky are awake, which will drive the price up further. Depending on numbers and the detail of the deal would the option supporters be happy paying £3-£5 a month?
The other point is that Sky are unlikely to agree to the main channels being optional. For the above reason of advertising revenue they will want the whole VM audience to be available if not actually watching.
Personally I have not felt the loss, I only watched 3 hours a week and I'm relatively happy picking one of those up on DVD when they come out and don't really miss the other two. Now if they had Heroes I might have to think about it.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
For myself I find that I use my freeview option less & less to watch Sky news. Would not want to pay a penny more for the channels that Sky did supply. But there again there are lots & lots on XL that I never watch, A real pick & mix would be great. I bet it would be a nightmare to set up. Still I can dream

The very best in TV? Are you joking or hallucinating?
I've heard the Sky basics called many things, but never before the very best in TV!
I suppose there is no accounting for taste....

Who on earth in Sky did you speak to?

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
waste of time IMO. Most of the stuff is garbage or reruns of the simpsons.
VM would be better off trying to get the good stuff off Sky One onto VoD. Sky probably wouldn't allow it though.

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky
Hi Toto, I actually spoke again to Sky yesterday 19th June 08, and they told me, as l disconnected certain packs, that l could have the pack l wanted for ONE POUND per month, number 08702 40 40 40, but as l had a multi room system, and only disconnected one card, l could not get it, l am always after saving money, l pay £65.00 per month for Sky, on Multi room, for every channel there is.
---------- Post added at 16:14 ---------- Previous post was at 16:08 ----------
Hi Foreverwar, as said to Toto, l did contact them again, and the deal is still there, its a ONE POUND per pack, but as l have a mutli room, and it was only the card l cut, then l could not get it, but they did say, that l could do on the other cards to save money, ie, if l scrapped Sky Movies, then l could save £20.00 per month, i l think that Sky are doing a lot of offers at the moment, if you have Sky as well as cable, call them, 08702 404040, or if you take the card out, say on UK Gold, the screen offering the deal, comes up

Somehow, I don't imagine VM think the potential caravanning customer base is big enough to be too worried about that.

That's not what he asked. You said "l contacted Sky, and they told me, that Sky offered VM a reduced deal, too avoid customers losing out, the reduced deal was 25 million, VM turned this down". He was asking who you spoke to in Sky to hear that. That is the sort of info that your average Customer Service bod (who you would have spoken to to buy a new package) would not have access to.
I have (as I am sure you have) worked in large companies before, and I know that the staff "on the front lines" so to speak do not tend to get told about this sort of negotiation.

Read on www.digitalspy.co.uk
On another forum on another site i read that someone was on the phone to a member of staff on the Virgin BB line, and they got onto the topic of the sky basics, they mentioned that in the next couple of months its a strong possibility that they basics (sky one etc) will be making a return to Virgin.. they also said that virgin would apparently be making a press announcement within the next week or so.
Is there any shread of truth in this (i hope there is) or was the member of staff merely trying to sign up another customer using smoke and mirrors.....
Cheers peeps.
