Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky

I've got access to the channels VM lost and I never bother with Sky One etc. With VOD/BBCi and VM's regular channel line-up there's too much to watch anyway. I suspect some people just want them back for completeness. They're certainly not worth any price increase bringing them back may incur.

If bandwidth allowed after the analogue switch off's Sky HD would be very welcome and Sky should encourage VM to take them. It's the only area Sky lead VM and could make a lot of money considering VM already supply the hardware, its total profit for Sky. They really need to stop playing the platform game and instead act like a broadcaster who wants maximum income and maximum exposure and lose the ego they have with the platform. That ego (and greed) caused the creation of Freesat and seen most of the biggest UK channels break-away from the platform, if SES-Astra create more capacity on tight UK beams they could lose a lot more and end up with only Sky and shopping channels in their subscription packs.

The Astra 2 fleet is at 28.2° East and Eurobird 1 is at 28.5° if you want to be picky!

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky

I have not had SKY for about 15 years but is it still the case that when it rains hard the picture goes fuzzy.

Used to do my brain in lol

It doesn't go fuzzy. Being digital you tend to either have a picture or no picture at all. So in torrential rain you might lose the picture altogether. It can also mess with Sky+ boxes if this happens. It doesn't happen very often though (unless your dish isn't aligned properly). Although a lot depends just how bad the weather is. A few years ago we were having a drought. I think many would consider those to be the good old days. Especially Sky tv users.

And where exactly did I say I've "never seen it before"? Some people should think before they post, or realise some people get out every now and again. I do actually have a life outside of my own home (and TV supplier) you know I've seen it on the TV and internet for that matter, and it's rubbish at best IMHO.

But if the green box down the road gets flooded or if your omnio box is open to the elements that's a different story

Re: Virgin Media in talks over bringing back Sky

If they do bring back the Sky channels is there any way we can opt out of having them? I really don't miss them at all.

Why would you want to opt out entirely? VM charge you for packages not the channels. Channels are added and taken away all the time without any affect on your bill. If the Sky channels come back you wouldn't end up paying extra for them.
