Can't watch ANY BBC channels

As per the title, my V+ box has not been able to watch BBC (1,2,3,4 News 24) all day. No sound and the picture is just a mish-mash of blocky colours. It's as if the signal is getting to the box but it can't be decoded properly. The box is NOT overheating as all other channels work OK, for example, the snooker final on BBC2 cannot be watched but the same feed on Eurosport plays fine!

I've rebooted the box three times and called India (why?!) who said "We're sending a signal to your box - reboot again in 10 minutes". A typical get-rid-of-the-customer-asap trick. But this still hasn't worked. I've had a look on these forums but I can't search for BBC as the term is too small. Arrrrggg!!!!

Anyone else have this issue? I've tried loads of other channels, Sky Movies, Sports, Setanta, ITV etc - it's ONLY the BBC channels that are affected.

Is there anything (apart from speaking to India again) I can do?

Thanks

Els

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

Have you tried pressing reset?

Try turning the box off for 10 mins.

Can it not be watched via inteactive?

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

I think you'll have to call again.

Meanwhile, you'll probably be able to get BBC1 and BBC2 on channels 851 and 852.

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

Thanks for the 851 / 852 tip ... I can see these but still not the standard BBC fare.

I've tried numerous power-offs, pressing the reset button, leaving it for a round of BF2 and then trying again to no avail. Even checked all SCART connections and cleaned the card. Nothing seems to have worked - except that instead of the multi-coloured blocks I get a black screen with "This channel isn't available" message.

How frustrating!

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

I too have noticed a "blockiness" in BBC24 and BBC 1, around 4-5pm most days. A reset of my box fixes the problem, but I will be calling it in on Tuesday if it continues. South Wales area.

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

It's not "blockinesss" or pixelation - i's a complete break up of the picture. I'm in north Derbyshire BTW.

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

It sounds like a signal level problem. All the channels you've lost are on the same frequency. Unless it's an area fault, you'll need a tech out to fix it.

ps. I didn't know there was any cable in north Derbyshire. Whereabouts?

Its weird because I seem to be having the same problem, but not with BBC channels but with UK Gold and UK Drama, the plus one versions are fine. Looks like a call to CS on Tuesday, oh deep joy....

Re: Can't watch ANY BBC channels

Hmmm, thinking about it, its picture breakup, such as a black box left when the epg dissapears after three seconds.

Sticking my neck out further it may be the fact that I have had to extend my cable to the wall using an extension cable. It was a cheaper option than getting an engineer out, I may now have to review that if its going to cause signal degradation.

I can't see any known problems for your area, so you're going to have to call again.

I just had a engineer come round this morning and the problem was fixed in less than 10 mins, apparently the TV signal was too weak because of the splitter for the broadband, a quick tweak to increase the signal at the green box and all's well, good on yer VM, nice and quick, phoned yesterday at 14.00 sorted by engineer today at 10.15.
