V+ Ethernet and Homeplug

Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum, so Hi...

I have a question for you experts out there, I have recently been connected to Virgin V+ and I am trying to setup a nice Homeplug network around the house sending the Virgin signal through a Router (Ethernet) such as Zyxels box or slingbox and have a reciever at the other end (from any plug socket) recieve the signal..

I have looked at many solutions Slingbox being the only one I can find that takes a standard TV signal (Component, HDMI, SVid etc) and sends around the house having the following connections:

V+ Box --> Slingbox (HDMI IN) --> Homeplug (sockets) --> Desitination (Socket) --> SlingCatcher --> Remote TV

My Question is is it possible to use the V+ box as an Ethernet network device using the V+ ethernet connection, to plug into something like the Zyxel homeplug system?

Nigel.

Re: V+ Ethernet and Homeplug

The ethernet port on the V+ does not operate, neither does the USB. It's a standard unit that eah cable manufacturer chooses what to enable in their software.

Re: V+ Ethernet and Homeplug

Also, I'm afraid what looks like a HDMI in on the Slingbox Pro isn't actually a HDMI port.

They've just used the HDMI form factor but it won't accept a HDMI signal. It is used to connect an analogue HD source via component (and an extra adapter).

Yeah USB isn't completely disabled, it will still supply power to devices but they won't communicate with the box in any way.
