Best LCD TV for V+
I have three LCD TV's in mind.
Sony KDL32D3000 1080p 100hz pricing from £600 to £740
Panasonic TX32LXD70 100hz pricing from £579 to 750
Samsung LE32H86BD 100hz Pricing from £549 to £599
Anyone got one of these tellies and if so do you recommend them? Also, whats the picture like with football fast moving action, and very dark movies, Do you have to have the brightness up so much you get a headache just so you can see the details? An example of this would be someone in a black suite, but you can't see the black lapels or collars or buttons on the jacket.
Finally did you get the TV from a shop that had a returns policy for any dead of stuck pixels that the TV may or may not have?
Regards.

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
After seeing many V+ and LCD's with my job, I would say that Sony Bravia give the best picture.

I have the Panasonic you mention but with the 26" screen and it is excellent. No problems with the picture in fact there's very little difference that I can see between SD and HD pictures.

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
I have the KDL-32D3000 and it is utterly superb. Great picture from the V+, but really comes into its own with the PS3 for Blu-ray movies and games.
Note that while the TV does take a 1080p signal, the display is only 1366x768, so you will get a 1080i picture at best. But the quality is superb.
I got mine from Co-op Electricals online, which at the time was the lowest price at £729. Not a single dead or stuck pixel.

I also have the Sony and agree with Paranoimia, it's excellent! It cost £619 from Total Digital but I see it's now £577!

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
We chose a small 32" Pannie at end of January (when we ordered V+ etc) because we blagged a 5 year warranty - I am sure it's possible to argue a case for any good TV - it's all down ultimately to luck/psychological personal preferences...
One stunning thing about using V+ into any good TV/display is that many of the channels appear almost, if not as good, as HD ... (people who sit 3 inches in front of a 56 inch display might disagree...).
Recently we have bought/watched our first Blu-ray excellent discs at cheap 3-for-2 price (i.e. £36 for all 3 'Pirates OTC' films on BD) and they are nice BUT not significantly better than ordinary £3-£5 etc DVDs.
The big problem IMO with 'wide screen' is the massive con of getting us to buy 16:9 flattie plasma/LCD sets to watch 22:9 cinema films ...
IMO after years of using good big/small visual displays, 32" is big enough for TV (buy good cheap projector if you want big film experience).
I am even surprised to find that good 24"-28" screen is perfectly good enough for all TV/disc-film watching. And I am a git who likes to buy the biggest and the best.
In our opinion V+ is a great easy to use PVR with occasional supposed HD (much of ordinary stuff is upscaled so well into good TV that, although we are pleased to record/watch good channel 108 progs, we like the content of the progs we choose anyway).
Just like in audio-'hifi' etc people who have wasted too much moolah like to pretend that everything overpriced is the best - suck it and see/make your own decisions.

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
My main problem at the moment seems to be getting these people who sell TV's to own up to what exactly is their dead pixel policy. A few have said we use what the manufacturer says. As we all know the manufacturer allows some quite disgusting amounts of screen defects before it classes them as being defective. Personally, one defective pixel is one too many. I'd rather pay more for perfection than be stuck with something that would drive me totally crazy.

The LG 47LF65 has a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, 6 million pixels, FULL HD processing, Simplink with 2 HDMI, Intelligent Eye Pro, Dimple speaker for clear and powerful sound quality and Dolby digital and Surround MAX awsome bit of kit looked at most models of lcd tv's and decided to buy that one and it doesnt give me motion blur like most of the lcd tv's i looked at would even say it out classes the sony bravia for the picture quality

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
Having checked out a number of makes and models, the only 2 I would ever touch are Sony and Samsung. The others are just dull in comparison, and the colours washed out. The local Tesco has a wall of LCDs, and if you assume that they just set them up 'out of the box', the Sony's and Samsung's are the ones that draw your eye - pictures are brighter and colours stronger and more vivid.
Looking around the net, I've found loads of advice as to how you can tweak and improve the image by accessing maintenance menus and so on, but if you're spending a fortune on a new TV, you shouldn't need to do that. You just want to plug it in and watch a beautiful HD picture. And that's just what you get with the Sony and Samsung units.
As for motion blur - there's certainly none on my D3000, even with the fastest games - so it's also ideal for movies. Sound is also great, though it could do with a little more bass. Check out this review.
Still, a lot of it is down to the individual's eye and how you like your TV image. I often wonder how some of my friends & family watch their TV, since - for my tastes - they either have the colour too strong or the brightness too high.
The only brand I would always advise against is Philips, since every time I've seen one of their TVs in action, it's been like looking through a dirty window!

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
Its the old old argument, mines is better, bigger than yours!
I bought the Panasonic, because Online Which had Panasonic accross ALL best buys. Something to do with the Viera picture handling etc.
It automatically went into 1080 from V+ install.
Bravia gets good write up as does Samsung.
I downloaded a audio file form Online Which that was very informative, and again did mention Panasonics superb abilities.
I got my Panasonic 32 at Costco last November for just under £400. With 5 year warranty.
SD is stunning, and HD breathtaking. BBCHD stuff like Mountain, is just fantasic.
Live rugby was superb...smell the blood!
Panasonic 32 is one of the best, high tech, things I have ever bought! Needless to say the best telly I hav ever had!

Re: Best LCD TV for V+
I have to admit I am leaning towards the Panasonic. Now if I can just guarantee I get not duff pixels, I'll be happy.
